Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail Trailhead
Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, United States
About the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail Trailhead
The Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail Trailhead is located in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, United States. This park is part of the Chesapeake Beach Rail Trail, which follows the original Chesapeake Beach Railway route from Washington, D.C. to Chesapeake Beach. Managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, this trail spans three counties in Southern Maryland, totaling 28 miles in Calvert and Anne Arundel counties, and 11 miles in Prince George's County.
The park features a 100-acre tract named Fishing Creek Park, with a trail that connects to residential communities and provides off-road access to Chesapeake Beach and North Beach. Construction of the trail began in 2008 and was completed in 2011, with a dedication ceremony held in September of that year.
Future plans for the trail include connecting to Walker Mill Regional Park and Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Anne Arundel County, as well as linking to the town of Chesapeake Beach in Prince George's County. Additionally, a portion of the trail has been built in Maryland Park in Prince George's County, providing a scenic pathway for visitors to enjoy.

Reviews of Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail Trailhead
"Beautiful views and very nice walking area!"
"Nice place to go to walk your dog. End to end about 2 miles. Great exercise for you and your pets"
"Great clean level trails that are on a hard surface with scenic views."
"Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail is a “hidden gem”. A great place to walk your dog, go bird watching, learn about oysters, or nature signs along the 1.8 miles of trail. The trail is wheelchair accessible. Bring your camera, snack, and water. There are NO restrooms along the trail. They have a nice parking along Fishing Creek. It’s behind the marina. There are several restaurants nearby. Chesapeake Beach town is known for the railroad and steamship who came from Baltimore and Washington D.C. in the early 1900’s. The trail is part of the railway bed. They came for the amusement park at Chesapeake Beach. There is a railroad museum in the town. It lifted our body, mind, and soul! Don’t forget your binoculars!"
"We love this trail and walk it multiple times a week! It's nice all year round, and super stroller friendly."
