"This place is gorgeous! It feels so remote. Nice large parking area at the trailhead. Main trail is paved and goes along the river from a distance. Many footpaths going down to the river, somewhat narrow, muddy at some spots. Great spot for fishing and swimming. Full of fun trees for climbing and huge sycamores."
"Astoundingly beautiful location! I stopped by for a hike while in the area and was privileged to see an amazing sunset over the river on my way back, which was an absolute highlight. This location is beautiful, with large and old trees, small creeks, a bog, and of course the river shore to explore. There is a paved main path leading away from the parking lot that is easy to access and wheelchair friendly, and this area isn’t particularly difficult terrain, making it perfect for light exercise and a little exploring. For those interested in a more rugged adventure however, there are a handful of dirt footpaths and game trails winding throughout the various parts of the park that lead to some exquisite locations; these however are more difficult to traverse, so be sure to bring good shoes and some bug spray! Down by the riverbank was a scattered handful of people fishing, swimming, and generally enjoying the area. The area wasn’t crowded by any means, though it’s difficult to say if this may change outside of COVID times. The road to enter the park can be a little narrow at some points, but even still is largely wide enough for our class C RV to get through to the parking area as long as there aren’t too many other cars coming the opposing direction, and the parking lot is relatively spacious and good to accommodate a decent amount of cars or RVs of nearly any size. In total, this location is both beautiful and relatively accessible, and if you’re looking for a lovely nature area within an hour or so drive of DC, this is a great place to start!"
