Reviews of Susquehannock State Park
"I have a PA state parks and forests passport book, so have been trying to visit all the state parks to fill it up. And in that context want to say that I really like this state park. I just took the dogs back for an afternoon walk on several of the trails and Susquehannok never fails to disappoint. It has a peaceful, quiet vibe with well marked and accessible trails. The old historical house as well as overlook always make for nice pics, especially if you go during late afternoon toward sunset. The pooches loved it and I was surprised by the number of early winter mushrooms. Also noticed some hackberry trees for the first time. It's a nice out of the way park for quiet couple hours, picnic, or contemplative walks."
"We loved the stunning overlook, a perfect spot to witness the breathtaking sunset. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant golden color, reflecting beautifully on the river's surface. The park itself offers well-maintained trails winding through lush forests and along the riverbank, providing a peaceful escape into nature."
"A great place to go and see raptors. We saw a mature bald eagle and several immature ones. We also saw a lot of turkey vultures. The best part was seeing two military jets following the river heading south."
"Free access (no fee). Good view of the river. Good shaded picnicking areas. Even a playground with a fort, slide and swings for kids near the eating area ("Ball Field"). A usable picnic pavilion at Hawk Point. Plenty of parking. Multiple restroom areas."
"Park is overall relatively small but offers beautiful scenery. I hiked the Rhododendron Trail with my dog counterclockwise starting from the James B. Long House, then taking a right on Fire Trail then following the Overlook Trail back around. The hike wasn't populated at all until I got to the Overlook Trail. Many people just park out near the overlook instead of hiking. The views are beautiful and provide great bird watching as well."
