"The henryton area of PVSP is often overlooked. It’s awesome if you would just like to take a short hike next to some train tracks to a train tunnel and river access for swimming. There are ropes you can swing from on the trees. The henryton tunnel is short but nice and less muddy than other train tunnels in the area. Parking is rarely hard. You can also park at henryton and hike up to the McKeldin of Patapsco."
"We used to come here all the time as kids, and it looks basically the same as it did back then. The trees and plants are gorgeous. There are lots of shallow areas good for wading and exploring with kids, and there are some deeper areas good for swimming. You can walk pretty far down on the trails and then get back down to the water, but a lot of the trail is much higher than the water and too steep to climb down. There used to be a whole bunch of wild raspberry bushes up along the train tracks, but they cut it all down. :( There are often snakes there, so watch out for those. Not sure if they're venomous or not, but we saw one yesterday in the water that was white and brown striped. Great place to relax or to explore. 10/10"
"Small parking lot. Easy to moderate hike that is rocky in certain areas. You hike next to railroad and river on hike I did but there are a few trails you can take from parking lot."
"This is not much of a parking lot (see picture) so you may not get a spot on a busy day. Parking only allowed here from 7a-7pm. Hike (rocky rapids) was pretty though it was a very muddy and skinny trail with lots of grass/plants growing over it."
"Parking is limited, I recommend going either earlier in the day or later to avoid disappointment as well as carpooling as much as possible. While there I did the Rocky Rapids Trail. The beginning half is fairly easy with little changes in elevation here and there, the later half is a different story with some areas that could be a bit challenging for those looking for a nice and easy flat trail. This is another trail that people will take their horses on so watch for horse droppings."
