Reviews of Milo's Cafe and Restaurant
"Burrito lovers should start their day here. The Chorizo Breakfast Burrito special is on the level of New Mexico's famous breakfast burritos. Now this isn't a red or green sauce type of burrito with a tonne of beans. It is a well excited skillet burrito that is well executed with its variety of ingredients that haven't been treated as a simple existence. Please consider getting the sour cream and salsa inside the burrito for the ultimate flavor. This is a burrito I would be waking up at 5am for, and no one likes waking up at 5am. To the owners, please consider making this a staple of the menu. Pan frying/toasting the tortilla would take this from a really good burrito to an awesome one. Don't change anything else. Whatever you are doing right now works. Note to the skeptical peeps out there. I've had this 2 days in a row. It's consistently good. Sorry for the lack of photos, you're just going to have to take the adventure."
"Giving an honest review here. Were through on a quiet Sunday. Walking in, seated by a hostess and told the routine is to scan a QR code at your table and you order all, drinks, food, etc. via QR code on the phone. We were given actual menus as well but orders were to be placed on the phone. We are not luddites (Im a techy) and while kind of odd I tried to see some benefit. The QR ordering was a bit cumbersome to say the least as you had to setup an account/payment and then seeming to have to process/place orders to get them to ship to the kitchen/bar which we (I) goofed on but eventually figured it out. Ordered 2 beers, one draft 7$ one non $8.50, half dozen wings $9, I got a burger ($14), added sautéed onions (+$1.50), added fries (+$4) so $19.50 for a burger and fries. She got Mac n' Cheese, ($16 in a 4" ramekin) nothing else, and I added her a small mixed green salad ($5). Total after tax $69.55 Decent food but very spendy to say the least at $19.50 for a burger and fries. Great people, great bar tender seemed to be carrying the weight, owner was there also great. The hard part is the QR code and handling the front-of-house yourself at these prices. I am usually a very big tipper but that usually takes into account front-of-house and wait staff who usually split tips with the back of house. So tipping 25% or more is usually standard for good service and good food. Fumbling over the QR code even with a great bartender coming from behind the bar and checking on us makes it hard. The hostess there who pretty much seated us and nothing more and given the place was so quiet could have easily been tending tables but the bartender and owner were up several times greeting the door with no hostess present.. It may be the new norm with prices increasing and staffing issues being so difficult but its hard to tip the way we'd like to when we are doing the work of the front-of-house (placing our own orders, fumbling through phones, and so on). Its nothing against an owner, as running a food establishment is no easy task, but it would seem the QR model may negatively impact wait staff and back-of-house staff as it pertains to tips for service but I have no idea. Again, tech savvy but I cant imagine this format being conducive to a lot of people (older) that would walk through the door or people knowing the price point. Two seeming hipsters (young) came in for drinks to take out on the patio while we were there and buck'd, blew off, the QR code just wanting a couple drinks cash to take out and sip. Again, its clear staffing is a chore but at $65 for 2 beers, 6 wings, a $19.50 burger and fries, small mac and cheese, and a small salad, and having to order yourself QR it gets a little hard but again, changing times. All that said, I'd go back for sure. Seems their big deal is Sunday Brunch. Just some honest feedback."
"We really enjoyed this little spot. They had these beautiful hibiscus mimosas with the edible flower. Delicious! We ordered the pancakes and breakfast skillet with extra sausage gravy. All very tasty. The pancakes were light and fluffy and as big as your face! Plenty of food for the price. We met a cool group of people while dining at the bar; one of our favorite things to do on vacation, talk to other people. Very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area."
"Cozy and delicious brunch! The coffee was just what I needed to start my day off right. Huevos rancheros satisfied every craving I had. The biscuits and gravy was super hearty and comforting as well. If you're visiting the area you can't skip Milo's."
"This is a great place to stay for a couple of days and check out Black Water Falls. Milo’s has several quaint rooms you can stay overnight above the restaurant. The folks are so nice and the food was amazing. The baked oatmeal is a tasty breakfast choice as well."
