Reviews of DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown
"I had a terrific stay. From the moment I checked in they were accommodating. Crystal is the best. She was knowledgeable. She had everything ready when asked. The next day Crystal even recalled my daughter’s audition and asked how it had gone. The rooms are older but very clean. Love the layout. It was definitely enough room to spread out comfortably. By far, the best fitness center. More than a closet with a treadmill. It was inviting. They had a Peloton I could ride and decent equipment. From the moment I checked in they texted me to make sure all was fine with my room and overall experience. That was a first. They texted both days that I stayed at the hotel. The icing on the cake were the cookies. Thank you Doubletree!"
"Paid a lot of money for a cheap hotel. Service was mid. The woman who checked me in was rushing me and didn’t tell me anything about the hotel. Didn’t know about the connected 7-11 until the second day after exploring. They advertised a heated pool but the room was freezing so the pool was not usable (whatever it’s January) tiny bathroom and a lot of wasted space in the room. No microwave. Valet parking only. Just kinda a waste of money. If not for the location it would be 1 star"
"So let start off with what they don’t tell you is during winter times the rooms don’t have circulating air. It’s active heart or nothing. When we went to the desk about or AC/fan not working they informed us during this time of year they don’t work for the WHOLE BUILDING. They gave us a box fan, so here I sit with an open window and a box fan at an “upscale hotel” oh also there’s construction next door that starts at 5:00am… Cherry on top, hotel restaurant was ran buy 1 person, plan accordingly for food. You are paying for the location."
"AVOID UNTIL ROOMS ARE RENOVATED. Not a Hilton owned hotel I imagine that is held to the Hilton Standard. Being a Diamond member for years, we received a complimentary upgrade and COMPLETELY understand why the room was available. A 2-room suite that looks like it hasn't been renovated since the hotel was built. Window locks rigged to "remain locked", wallpaper bubbling EVERYWHERE, bathroom is tiny, only 1 TV worked, no trash can, mini-fridge literally on the floor in the middle of the room. Valet guy doesn't exist apparently and make sure your vehicle height is 6 ft and lower, otherwise you have to park a half mile away in the Oliver Parking Deck. Front Desk GM, Curtis, was phenomenal with his service and was shocked at our room condition being a 2 room suite. Wouldn't pay more than $100 a night and recommend the Hilton Garden Inn about 2 blocks away instead. I didn't even get my cookie. Overall, it isn't terrible just not to the standard for the price you pay and isn't the reputation of Hilton, let alone their Doubletree Branded Hotels."
"I booked a stay here for one night, as I had business in the area and this seemed to be centrally located to where I needed to meet, as well as decent restaurants and bars that I could walk to. When I arrived, there were no valet personnel in the garage and having never been here before, I didn't know exactly where to park my car in the garage to wait for them. I parked it and went into the office there and someone took my keys and phone number. They do have a text-based valet system, which is easy and convenient. Next, I headed to the lobby to check-in and the guy who checked me in didn't seem to have a very good attitude, he was a little curt and told me it didn't matter if I added my Hilton Honors number, since I used a 3rd party, but I'm still gold and I wanted that listed. No other description of the hotel, amenities, etc was given, just my key and I was off to my room. When I got into the room and a quick check of it (it wasn't very clean, with stains on the carpet and moldy caulk around the tub, etc) there was poop and used toilet paper in the toilet - GROSS! Made me feel like the rest of the room wasn't clean. Why was I given a room like this? I tried to flush the toilet and it didn't flush. I ended up holding the flushing handle to get it to go down. I had a quick business call to take and then a limited window of time for lunch and then another call, so I didn’t complain about this, yet… But it was my plan. So, I ran out for lunch and came back to see my door open... I walked in and a maintenance guy was there fixing the toilet. I hadn't had a chance to advise that the toilet didn't work, so how did he know? I'm assuming housekeeping told him. So again, why was I given a defective room if others knew there were issues with it?? The maintenance guy left his plumbing snake sitting on the carpet while he worked on the toilet - So much for understanding cross-contamination! This REALLY grossed me out and I ended up using towels as floor covers on that area of the carpet. The TV worked well and the bed was comfy. I did try the hotel restaurant for breakfast the next morning and it was really good. Doubt I’d stay here again."
