"MILITARY FAMILIES BEWARE. We are so disappointed in our experience with Nikki and this bank. We opened a HELOC with United in April and were assured several times by Nikki and the branch manager that we would be given a fixed rate of 4% for a specified amount of time followed by .25% below WS prime rate after the period. We were shocked and devastated to find on our statement after just 3 months we were never being charged the fixed rate and were being charged the WS prime rate-.25%. When we confronted Nikki, who set up the HELOC for us and worked with us throughout the entire process, she said we must have misunderstood and a fixed rate was never offered. We would have never accepted this product if Nikki had been honest with us about the rate. Throughout the ENTIRE process we voiced several times the importance to us of getting a fixed rate for a specified amount of time and were assured that it was being offered. We feel as though we were lied to so that United could get an “easy sale”, and this has put us in a very uncomfortable financial situation. If you are looking for an honest “care about you” bank DO NOT use this bank."
