"I’m not sure if I’ve ever wrote a complaint against a company before but here goes. I thought I would pass this on to other potential customers. I applied for a boat loan with APGFCU and was approved for the loan and received an email confirming this. I called to verify this and was given a rate of 6.49% for 30 days. This offer was based on the fact that APGFCU does not write boat loans for private sales which this was. They told me if I purchased the boat they could write an 80/20 loan refinance loan. I called to verify this again before flying to Florida where the boat was located. I made an offer on the boat and it was accepted. By the time we had closing on the boat it only left me 5 days till my 30 day interest rate would lapse. So, I flew down to Florida to try an speed things up. We closed on the boat as I paid cash for the boat with the intention of doing a refinance deal with APGFCU. Upon returning home to Delaware from Florida, I drove to Maryland Department of Natural Resources to register the boat with 2 days remaining on the guaranteed interest rate. While registering the boat, the DNR noticed one of the signatures was missing on the tittle. They would not complete the paperwork without it. I overnighted the title to Florida to the previous owner for their signature. Unfortunately, we had a snow storm and and the planes were grounded for a day. The tittle was delivered to Florida the next day but USPS delivered it to the wrong address. This pushed it past the 30 day cut off to get the 6.49% rate. The previous owner mailed it overnight the same day they received it. I returned to DNR to get the new tittle and drove 2 hours to APGFCU in Belair, MD to close the loan. The new rate posted online at that time was 6.99%. After about an hour of processing the paperwork, the girl I was dealing with at the bank (who was very nice) sent it over to the main office. She excused herself to speak to the manager. When she came back in, I could tell but her expression something was wrong. She said I didn’t qualify as a member??? No one ever mentioned this and nothing was noted in the approval letter. You would have thought the manager would have been professional enough to come in and explain this to me. So, after all this I got stuck paying $70,000 cash for the boat. I had this money in another account earning 4.17% interest. Plus the fact I flew down to Florida to expedite the loan. It’s hard to believe that a company can operate in this manner and evidently has no respect for their present or future customers. Hopefully, this review will warn other potential customers to look around before dealing with a company like this."
"I am writing to share my experience with APGFCU regarding an unauthorized withdrawal from my account in 2022. Despite the bank’s initial assurance of making a special effort to recover the funds, the actual support I received was disappointingly inadequate. In 2022, I discovered that a significant sum of money had been stolen from my APGFCU account, three months after the incident. The theft was executed using a Wells Fargo account. When I reported this to APGFCU, I was informed that the delay in reporting meant that the funds were no longer insured. Nevertheless, the bank pledged to work with Wells Fargo and their IT team to investigate and recover the stolen money. However, APGFCU’s actions fell short of their promises. Rather than receiving comprehensive assistance, I faced criticism for not detecting the fraudulent activity earlier. Both the manager and a director at APGFCU (whose name I am yet to recall but I will search and update this review ) blamed me, suggesting that the theft was my fault for not checking my account sooner. This director even admonished me over the phone, stating that I should be satisfied with the 5% of the funds they had managed to return and that they would not offer further help (which I have as a recorded call) . He claimed they had collaborated with Wells Fargo, but nothing substantial was found.Taking matters into my own hands, I contacted Wells Fargo directly and uncovered that APGFCU’s efforts were far from thorough. Wells Fargo revealed that they had received only a basic fax from APGFCU, without clear instructions or adequate details for conducting a proper investigation. This came to light during a three-way call (also recorded) with both banks, where APGFCU’s representatives were unable to explain their previous statements about their efforts. Fortunately, through my direct engagement with Wells Fargo, I was able to recover all of the stolen funds. This process, however, took an arduous five months, a duration not feasible for many customers. This experience has highlighted significant issues in APGFCU’s handling of security breaches and their customer service. The lack of effective action and misleading communication I encountered is concerning. It underscores the need for APGFCU to reevaluate and reform their procedures and approach in dealing with such critical issues. Customers deserve better support and transparency, particularly in situations involving financial security. Very disappointing to say the least—absolutely disgusted by the disengagement by the APGFCU team at a critical time and by the tone and language used by the director."
"This is a horrible credit union. The website, app, and customer service all suck. Avoid them at all costs. Update: They responded to this faster than you can get a human on a phone call with them. Amazing they care more about their social media and other public images than actual customers. Look at how low their rating are on all branches though. I should have looked into that before I used them but I’m used to using the local base bank. I tried to use this location to complete a wire transfer from my primary bank REDFCU in Alabama, and get a cashiers check to purchase a car. I didn’t want to do multiple transfers on the web over several days maxing out the daily transfer limit, and I didn’t want to wait on a check hold since they have long hold times. The seller was nice enough to hold the car for a bit but I didn’t want him to get jumpy and sell it out from under me. I got APGFCUs instructions for how to do that and they called my other bank and I thought had it worked out. This was a first for me but it shouldn’t have been complicated. Then APGFCU apparently messed something up and the money wasn’t available. They said they’d need a few days to clear it up and then release a hold. Luckily I had more than double the money available in my primary account, and the seller let me write him a personal check after all of that, so I still got my car, and then had to wait for APGFCU to fix their mess, release my money, and then I sent it back to my primary bank. I’ll never do that again and never use that branch again. My accounts are now closed and I’m done with the whole company. Their website is horrible and confusing compared to other banks. Same with their app. There’s nothing good to say about this place."
"As a new member I was greeted by Jackie, the receptionist and then I met with Joseph, the member service specialist. Joseph was very kind and patient as he collected my vital information. He was very informative and detailed with my new account. I was treated with respect. It was evident that Joseph truly cared about his job and conveyed his passion about his work at APGFCU. This was the first time I visited this branch and was very impressed with the environment. This must due to a confident, knowledgeable and caring branch maniUnder the leadership of Mr.Arquello, this Credit Union can only continue to flourish and bring various financial opportunities to our community."
"Worst bank ever. They failed to send an updated debit card when the one I had was about to expire so they said the only option was to give me a new card with completely new account number. Then they couldn’t get that card to work consistently. I had trouble with my cash apps, regular purchases etc I went to Havre de Grace branch for help and the young man working there had absolutely no clue what he was doing and behaved like he couldn’t care less. He told me the only way to fix the situation was to give me yet another new card with another completely new account number. I’d been with APGFCU for over a decade, but that was the last straw for me. I got so frustrated I closed my account on the spot."
