Reviews of Hornbill African Safaris
"I had the most amazing safari/ trip to Uganda and Kenya with this wonderful company. It truly was the trip of a lifetime and I can’t recommend this company highly enough. I appreciated all they did to make this safari so great and live that they are connected to local charities."
"I went to Africa in January with a group of friends on a spectacular trip that was meticulously and thoughtfully planned by Hornbill Treks and Safaris. We worked with Andrew, a co-owner, who was extremely responsive during the planning process and accommodated all of our various needs and requests. Andrew is from Uganda but is based part-time in N.J. and it was helpful to work with someone in U.S. time zones who has such deep knowledge and love for the countries we were visiting. We did an amazing gorilla trek in Uganda, and then visited several parks in both Uganda and Kenya, where we spent hours in the bush observing the wildlife. All of Hornbill's guides were lovely - they were incredibly knowledgeable and took great care of us. We were a group of major animal lovers who wanted to maximize our time on game drives versus hanging at the camps, and our guides were super flexible - they spent many, many hours with us driving and spotting wildlife, and were as enthusiastic as we were with every sighting. We had indicated that we wanted a trip that was reasonably priced with some nice accommodations mixed in. Andrew customized our trip to stay within budget and included a mix of hotels and safari camps that were perfectly situated, had beautiful views, were clean, comfortable and had great service. Andrew made the trip extra special by weaving in some experiences for us to get to know some local groups and people. We visited a secondary school in Entebbe, Uganda that Andrew's mother started years ago in order to help provide education opportunities to children throughout Uganda. He also planned a visit and experience for us with a group called Ride 4 a Woman that employs and empowers women in Northern Uganda. In Kenya, Andrew coordinated a visit for us to see Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's work with the elephants at Tsavo park, where we stayed at a camp that required us to bring in all of our food and supplies. Hornbill took care of all those logistics. Meeting local people who are doing great things in Africa was super inspiring. There were so many highlights during the trip that the trip itself became one big highlight. Andrew and the entire team at Hornbill--from the airport concierges and local guides/drivers to our main safari guides--were fantastic, and I would recommend Hornbill Treks and Safaris to anyone wanting to plan a once in a lifetime trip to Africa."
"My husband and I just returned from our two week safari + Zanzibar honeymoon in Tanzania, all thoughtfully booked and managed by Hornbill Treks & Safaris. It was by far the most flawless, memorable, and personal trip I've ever had the pleasure of taking. To start with, as a business owner myself, it brought me great comfort to know that I was working with a business that has both international reach but also local boots on the ground--ensuring that they not only 'know their stuff' but that they also really care about their customers and the local community that they engage with. Communication was incredibly personal and prompt both in planning and during our trip. Once we got to Tanzania, I was blown away not only by the hospitality that greeted us both from our Hornbill guide, Michael, but also that we encountered at every stop along the way. Each lodge and hotel that was recommended to us was not only locally owned (important in supporting local businesses + the local economy), but the teams at each were all fun, personable and incredible hospitality professionals who provided luxury, comfort, and service. I've already referred a few friends to Hornbill, but if you're looking to do a trip or Safari anywhere in East Africa, I highly recommend that you reach out to Elizabeth, Andrew, and the Hornbill team to book a dream journey!"
"Incredible experience all around. From the planning to the execution, even our last minute accommodation changes. Whether on Safari or at the beach, the Hornbill team was always available to assist us. Our guide was incredibly personable and professional. His wealth of knowledge and skill was astounding. I would recommend anyone going on safari to book with Hornbill."
"We had an absolutely wonderful time in South Africa and Uganda, with all experiences arranged by Hornbill. Our guide in Uganda, Exevia, was fantastic - he was so knowledgeable about Uganda and had an obvious passion and love for his country and all its beauty and wildlife. Our gorilla trek was absolutely magical, truly the experience of a lifetime. Exevia took care to make sure we were with a guide that best matched our physical abilities. He was so sweet, I felt like I was leaving a family member when it was time to go home. I highly recommend using them for your trip."
