"let me begin with what is your health worth? Forget the copays and x-ray costs for a moment and think to yourself if you could catch oral cancer through a routine screening with one of Latrobe's exceptional dental hygienists would you want to know? Of course you would and that is exactly my point as this happened to me through early detection in 2018. Jen recommended I see a specialist as she watched my irritated cheek and gum tissue worsen. This may just have saved my life for I contine to battle this disease with my most recent surgery Jan.26th. Have you ever experienced the lingering effects of lockjaw or had feeding or breathing tubes inserted? Now you're putting on my shoes . . There are times when early detection and treatment are worth every penny and I am so grateful to Latrobe Dental Arts, Jen, Dr. Salancy and others that I trusted their diagnosis and did not concern myself with what an additional x-ray was for or the cost of a copay because they found my cancer ! Had it not been them then who then? Please take it from me when I say worry less about money and make a greater effort in being and staying well . . I am alive because I wholeheartedly believe the treatment I received at Latrobe Dental Arts turned a spiraling condition into one of treatment that ultimately has saved me . . please believe it ."
"I hate going to the dentist, not because of drilling, not because of needles but because of Dr. Salanci. He worked with my family and I for years knowing full well that bad teeth run in the family. This happened a long time ago. I went in for myself and mom was having something done as well. He told me that my teeth had a lot of problems (which I'm aware of) and proceeded to lecture me about not going often enough, not brushing, flossing or taking good care of my teeth. In front of my mother. I actually take these things seriously but weak enamel and family genetics aren't in my favor. My mother in I never set foot in there since. If you want a dentist who doesn't judge you, stay away from this place. Edit: I found a better place since."
"I have had nothing but great experiences each time I have gone to this dental practice. Everyone is very professional. They take the time to make sure that everything is done right. Couldn't recommend Latrobe Dental Arts more."
"My dentist that I have had for many years passed away and I didn't find a new dentist until today. Two days ago my tooth started to hurt. Well last night the pain was unbearable I knew I had to get to a dentist ASAP. I called every dentist that was in my dental plan and not one of them could take me any sooner than 8/28/23. Latrobe Dental Arts is not in my plan but they could see me today. The entire team at Latrobe Dental Arts was amazing. They made me feel welcomed and explained everything to me. Thank you again for squeezing me into your schedule. You have no idea how much I appreciate it! I can't wait to be pain free again. Thank you so much!"
"This has been the only dentist office that I've ever gone to since I was a child. My parents have always taken me here up until I got into high school. The first time that I went on my own the dental assistant insisted that I get x-rays. A few weeks later my parents got the bill in the mail and were unhappy. They did not think I needed x-rays done at that time. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I didn't have a parent there to advocate over the x-rays. Last year I got an x-ray and asked if I would have to pay anything for it (co-pay). She said no, and my insurance ended up covering it. A few weeks ago my insurance changed and the assistant insisted that I get updated x-rays because my insurance changed. I again asked if I'd have to cover any of it and she said no. I ended up receiving a bill in the mail for it. I went to the office and explained to the receptionist that the assistant told me I wouldn't owe for it. Her response was, "you'll always be charged for an x-ray." I realize that, but the staff failed to tell me that I'd have a co-pay for it when I asked. I further explained this to her and she said my new insurance is out of network which nobody told that to me when I handed my new card to them. I would have explored other options had I known their office wasn't in network. She in addition told me that the assistant wouldn't know if I'd have a copay or not and I explained it would be ideal if they could communicate that with one another before I agree to be nickel and dimed at a visit that was only meant for a cleaning. Ultimately the receptionist ignored my concern and didn't care. In my opinion, there are very few employees left in this world who are apologetic or express compassion towards mistakes. In my line of work, I have learned that although we as humans aren't perfect and that we make mistakes, it is important to the patient to at least take responsibility for miscommunication and take the proper steps to ensure it does not happen again. There was no responsibility whatsoever taken for a miscommunication on the receptionist AND assistant's part. I'm really disappointed in how this was handled and I think insisting on a patient to get excessive amounts of x-rays for you to make more money on an appointment that was meant for just a cleaning is unethical."
