Tarken Recreation Center

Tarken Recreation Center, located at 6250 Frontenac Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a part of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education organization. Our mission is to provide opportunities for under-resourced youth in the Greater Philadelphia Region to succeed in life. While hockey is a central focus, we understand that it is just one aspect of our students' futures. We aim to help our students lead happy, productive lives as responsible citizens who give back to their community.

Our hockey programs are open to students ages 5-16, regardless of skill level or experience. Education is a top priority, and ice time is earned through a commitment to academics, teamwork, and personal growth. Our Life Skills curriculum teaches respect, teamwork, character building, and leadership both on and off the ice.

Thanks to the generous support of donors, every dollar donated to the Snider organization is matched 2:1, maximizing the impact on our students. Our After School Excellence Program offers hockey, education, and life skills programming at no cost to Philadelphia residents aged 5-16.
