Reviews of Buttermilk Falls
"Easy hike. No map or directions so we wandered and enjoyed the last good day of leaf viewing."
"It was beautiful but there is very little parking (about 10 spots) on site. You park at the boat ramp down the road and walk on a .8 mile trail that is well maintained and has a lot of shade and benches. It is well worth the walk though, because once you get to the falls they are breathtaking. You can also swim here."
"Beautiful river and area, i wouldn't mind returning for a nice dip in the shallow river. My only issue was the amount of trash there and the short road to the parking was pretty roughed up from wear. Walking paths and the bridge is in great shape and easily accessible"
"This is a great location, beautiful in the fall. Not too hard to get to. The parking was alittle small. I didn't like the trash everywhere so I picked up what I could I'll have to bring some bigger bags the next time. Good trails to walk. Looks like old railroad tracks. Did not get to see the area with the pool. I will be going back."
"The park is very beautiful, open to the public, the waterfalls were absolutely stunning.. and the water was perfect. The only downfall is the trash people leave behind. It's completely disrespectful, lazy and just utterly disgusting. I plan on bringing my trash grabbers and some bags on my next trip, but that shouldn't be mine or anyone else's responsibility. Please, if you are visiting this spot, at the very least take your trash with you.. and consider taking some off the trail back with you, to a receptacle. Every bit helps. Keep it clean and beautiful, respect the land and everyone around you, before they start charging admittance or close it to the public all together. Also consider wearing water shoes. We did not and we were fine.. but because of the glass and trash on the trail, I would not be surprised if someone sliced a foot in those waters :( * added. In response to those who couldn't find the fall, from the parking lot take the somewhat hidden trail UPWARDS. Against the flow of the water. There are some small rapids, swimming holes and small falls down the trail, but the bigger fall and swimming hole is upstream."
