"My son is 5 years old, so we started looking into different programs/sports he can start. We tried soccer, but it wasn't his thing right now, so we showed him a few videos on YouTube of kids doing karate. He loved the idea of learning to be a 'ninja' so we looked into all of the karate programs in our area. I have non-negotioables when it comes to my son. I am very protective of him and proactive, meaning whatever we chose to enroll in, I will be learning right next to him. I need trustworthy adults who have patience, so I found the website for kinder karate and chose the Belle Vernon area because it's very close to us. A day after I submitted my interest, Paul, the co-owner of the company (husband and wife) called us and answered all of our questions. He was very soft spoken but didn't sugar coat anything. We took our son to the first class and watched. The patience these 2 have is incomparable. They helped the kids hand over hand- they use a variety of techniques to educate and teach them important character qualities, so the kids can become solid young adults with manners. Examples of these skills in just a couple classes: Self defense, responsibility of their thoughts and words, defending themselves, taking turns, patience and using manners. Mrs. Cerzniak, Co-owner is a phenomenal teacher. They use an app that has videos following the classes of Mrs. Cerzniak showing exactly what she taught so we can practice throughout the week. I found this to be price less. She also uploads videos that talk directly to the kids about the focus word i.e responsibility and other character building terms. She is bubbly, patient, very kind and really shows her love for what she does. The kids all listen during class and she takes as much time as they need to perfect their stances/moves. They take the kids for 30 minutes every 4 weeks, and on the 5th, parents are invited to watch. While we wait, we can see them through the window. I would absolutely recommend karate for a young child, but Kinder Karate really has a top notch program in place. It's effective and my son loves it! He asks to go to karate every single day.They're are several locations- some in martial arts buildings and some in church facilities. The bottom line is, when chosing this program, you're paying for the best of the best educators with 28 years of experience!!! Note: I strongly suggest parents signing their child up with the intention of signing yourself up too- they will need to practice through out the week, so they can learn! It's the same as a class in school or sport- if they want to get good, they have to practice but it's our job as the parent to give them the resources and encouragement in order to be successful. That's why the videos I mentioned are amazing. Kinder Karate gives us everything we need to continue making progress!"
