"This was a time-filler stop for us as we were walking around Old Town awaiting an upcoming appointment. I'm sure it's not for everybody, but I found the pictures, displays, and stories rather enchanting. I knew Fredericksburg was a historical stop, but the personal stories and cultural context through the years provided a more balanced and rounded view of the lives and history of the people and area. The friendliness of the staff and the quaintness of the building fostered a sense of familiarity, unlike some local historical attractions that relegate you to visitor status. The FAM is certainly worth an hour or two of your time and a modest donation to support their efforts."
"Disappointing museum. If you really want to learn about Fredericksburg, just read a book. You can learn more about Fredericksburg and its history after 5 minutes of research online than spending an entire hour here. This "museum" has a full 3 floors of space, yet there's very little information (and artifacts) about the town and the most important historical events have been scrubbed. But, it's really no surprise considering who leads Fredericksburg now. In fact, nearly all museums are being purged, cancelled, and propagandized by the "unWoke." This museum goes to extraordinary lengths to avoid displays or information about the founding of the city, its unique history, and Yankee barbarity once they arrived, attacked, and invaded this colonial town. Very sad how history is being manipulated, twisted, censored, and ignored today."
"Wonderful (and free) museum that goes through thousands of years of local history! Very kid friendly too, my kids loved the Dino search map!"
"Small but very well kept museum covering Fredericksburg's history. Kids enjoyed a dinosaur scavenger hunt around the museum as we toured the collections. Note: Free for the month of September and free always on Mondays. I think tickets were only about $5 per person over the age of 5 years old."
"Fredericksburg has become my favorite town to visit and was very enjoyable to be able to stroll through this local museum to learn more about its past. It contained alot of artifacts and had a bit of history I don't think you'd be able to read about in a general book on Fredericksburg. This museum is also conveniently right next to a historical chuch with an old church yard cemetery..in which the museum does have some history on."
