Assateague Explorer Pony Watching Cruise & Kayaking

"This was a wonderful tour! We took the "Pony Express Nature Cruise" which lasted almost 2 hours! The boat we were on was in great condition and there were life jackets and binoculars available for each passenger. Our guides, Captain Mark and Angela, were very knowledgeable, helped us identify the various animals we saw, and answered everyone's questions. Angela shared a wealth of information about the history of the area, the origins of the wild horses on the island, and all of the ongoing conservation efforts. In our case, we were fortunate enough to see some of the wild horses, as well as various birds and even some dolphins! When we came across them, the captain got us as close to the action as possible and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sights and take lots of photos/videos. When we booked this tour we knew that we may not get to see many wild animals because... they're wild! They do what they want! Our guides knew just where to take us to give us the best chance of seeing them. I would strongly recommend this specific tour to anyone who appreciates wildlife and history!"

"The kayak tour is the best way to see the ponies up close! Tour Guide Jenny is super knowledgable, especially about the native birds, and she has a great energy. I was surprised that all the kayaks were tandem & I got paired up with a stranger, but we had a great time! Confirmation email said to meet at a local hotel, then we got a call to meet at a local park instead - glad I drove to the first spot instead of trying to bike it! Overall great experience, will definitely be coming again!"

"My 16yo daughter and I enjoyed both the boat cruise and kayak tour in the same day! We couldn't get close enough to the ponies on the boat tour, so we booked the kayak tour on the captain's recommendation. What a pleasant experience, even though we had NEVER been kayaking before! We got closer to the ponies and saw a bald eagle perched near the Assateague Lighthouse. Highly recommend! This experience will add so much to your Chincoteague/Assateague experience...DON'T MISS IT! PS...we also did the sunset cruise!"
