"I like the people that work there. It was great service. Overall I had a bad meal the next day I came back and they gave me a new one. However, if I'm paying $40 for the meal $10 in a tip, the Chinese food could be a lot better. The chicken was mushy. I asked for crispy. The meat has to be a better quality, especially in an area like this. You can go to Fairfax or Washington DC. Was this area should be in the same category and upscale Chinese? And you won't find that mushy skin? It's hard to explain it just didn't taste good. It didn't sit well in my stomach and again if I'm paying $50 a meal for one person I expect it to be delicious"
"Went here for lunch with 6 other ladies. We were the only ones in there for awhile. It took them like 20 minutes to bring us drinks. Then they waited another 20 before taking our order. I am not a fan of peas and always get no veggies in my fried rice. Food was good, I got the cashew chicken lunch special. When the bill came, I had an extra $1.50 charge. When I asked why, they told me it's because of the no veggies. Still confused I asked why. She said they had to make my rice fresh since it was different so charged more! Should not all the food be made fresh?! I get no veggies everywhere I go and this is the only place that has ever charged me for that! Plus the server should have told me there was an extra fee when I asked if it could be done. So while the food was good, the service was awful. I won't return here."
"Well I despise throwing food away. I did so tonight. Mandarin Court is just not my cup of tea. Let’s look at why. Egg rolls- inside of the eggroll is as mushy as baby food. After asking my ex-wife, she said that every time she has gotten them. They come that way I got the chicken teriyaki bento box- the salad was amazing. Lettuce, avocado, cucumber and ginger dressing Chicken teriyaki sticks, eh, they are middle of the road. Not bad but not great California roll- very poor, weird taste and even weirder smell Spicy tuna roll- horrible, awful taste and the smell was worse. Philadelphia roll- wonderful, the stand out hit of the meal. Sesame chicken Chinese dish- again if these people think what they send out smells even close to normal food. They would not serve it. This smelled of Indian spices like clove or cinnamon. Overall , I am a top reviewer of over 5,000,000 page views and 2,000,000 photo views. I will say to NOT to make this your first choice. New Hunan and Montclair Chinese are my top pics for the Dumfries 234 area"
"We've been to this restaurant many times because of location and because we enjoy getting both Chinese and Japanese food. The last couple of times that we've eaten here have been disappointing, and today was no exception. The restaurant was clean and is spacious. The bathroom was also clean. The one really positive thing that I will say for the food is that our beef dish was very tender, and the sauce had great flavor. That said, our food took forever! There was only one other table seated who were already eating, and yet our food took an hour! When it finally arrived, our sushi was just sad. There was almost no salmon in our rolls (pictured). The rice was mushy, and we couldn't tsste the smoked salmon at all. The broccoli in our beef dish was so undercooked that I had to use a knife to cut it. Some of the food that they brought us was not the way we ordered it. Although my husband and I ordered the same meal, his portion size was considerably larger than mine. Our server was hard to find and did not check in on us more than once and only late in the meal and in an unfriendly manner. We had to go find the manager (or possibly owner?), and he was polite and quick to fix the food. When we received the bill, we found that we'd been charged for something we did not order. When we tried to talk to the server about it, she basically said we were wrong and then literally turned and walked away without saying anything else. We were not rude, did not raise our voices, and had barely spoken to her the entire meal, because she was never around, and yet she treated us like we were wasted breath. She was on a personal phone call while talking to us, too. The manager saw us trying to talk to her and came over. He was polite, recognized the mistake on the bill, and fixed it. Even though he was professional, we ultimately left feeling resented and disappointed in our food. We won't return."
"This restaurant is one of the best in DC area in term of food quality and price. The place is spacious and clean. It is not for the "first date", but it is enjoyable. Their crispy beef, teriyaki chicken, and fish fillet dishes are awesome. The portion is ample. My picky eater kids love their fried rice. Many others stated that their sushi is great also, but I'm not fond to any sushi."
