"Rarely do I write negative reviews, but I feel that my visit to the PPG Place Five Guys earlier today warrants it. It was a cascade of poor and unfortunate events. To start: my order of a hot dog, little fries, and a regular drink was nearly $18. Understandable, prices and costs have gone through the roof – but the quality was far from the price point. My food took 25 minutes from the time it was ordered to be ready, the fries were somehow undercooked and very chewy, the hot dog was burnt to a black tasteless crisp as was the bacon. To top it all off, both beverage machines were malfunctioning or broken entirely. The machine to the left dispensed a drink so warm that it melted the ice in my cup and still felt warm in my hands afterward, so I tried the machine on the right - which was shooting liquid in every direction but the cup and managed to stain one of my dress shirts which now has to be dry cleaned. Instead of taking it out on the employees (many of whom are very nice), I decided to walk away and not object my frustrations on them. This is not the normal five guys experience. I’ve been to other locations around Pittsburgh and the south hills, usually very good food and I’m in and out. I’ll be skipping this location from now on."
"Came in because I was a jonesin for a banana shake. Put in my order , waiting for my food , food comes out and ask for my shake ....,finally the girl comes in and asked me what flavor I had THEN she tells me they don't have banana. $24 and I don't even get when I came in for! and no barbecue sauce on my burger like I asked. 12/20/23 update: after writing this I heard from some branch manager who apologized and said they'd be sending me a $50 gift certificate… Fast-forward one month… Guess what? You guessed it ...no certificate has arrived."
"Food tastes ok. The staff was not overly friendly. The restaurant was needing cleaned. Ketchup was out. One of the drink machines was out of order. The tables were all wobbly. Fries were just chucked in the bag; about 5 were in the cup. Everything was overpriced. The staff did immediately clean the tables we were going to use and took the ketchup to refill."
"The cheeseburger is good, but one of the worst service I’ve ever had. This was my first time at Five Guys and the experience was very embarrassing, the attendant had no desire to help and did not seem to have the slightest patience with foreign people, she was completely rude and was more in the mood to talk to her friends who were present at the restaurant than to work. Unfriendly environment. I’ve always heard very good things about the food, but unfortunately the service ruined my experience, I hope to have another chance with this franchise elsewhere."
"This is the fifth Five Guys I've been to. After trying to get to the Oakland location which was too hard to park near on a busy Friday night, I decided to go downtown to this location. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger, Cajun fries, and chocolate milkshake. Overall it was a reasonably quick and smooth process, restaurant was clean and orderly. Despite being on the menu, I ordered a coffee milkshake only to be told they don't have that flavor and maybe haven't for about a year! Perhaps cover it on the menu after that long, haha. Fries were great as usual but weren't overflowing in the bag like I've had every time I've gone to the Ross Park Mall location. It truly felt like a 'small' because of that. Burger was good but this is the last time I'll get it with lettuce. Unlike Wahlburgers which gives a nice green leaf, this was the unpleasant white, hard type of lettuce which isn't for me personally."
