Reviews of Days Inn by Wyndham Chincoteague Island
"I booked a 2-night stay free with points. It was the off season and we were the only guests at the hotel, so we were understanding of some aspects of it but still did not have any breakfast available on the two mornings of our stay (understanding that it was the off season, but the lack of breakfast availability wasn't communicated to us in advance). The first room we were given didn't have working hot water and it smelled unpleasant, but the second room we were moved to was a small improvement (and it had a single-serving coffee/tea machine where the previous room did not). The room itself was clean, but it wasn't fully clean as you would expect a hotel room to be. There was no décor or a desk available, making it feel very motel-like, which was reinforced when we could hear the staff chatting out in the hall from the early morning hours. The only positive of this hotel is the location (5-minute drive from the state park) and the friendly staff, but I won't be coming back here points or no points."
"The breakfast was not out until the 10am as stated in the lobby, so therefore, no breakfast for one morning. The rooms had floors that were dirty. When I moved the chair out to get the ironing board, there were dead bugs on the floor and dust bunnies in the corner. The bed was the hardest that I had ever slept on, and there were no blankets available for the bed. Just covers that are as thin as sheets. The towels were discolored and stained with something black. For the price it was OK. There was nowhere to hang clothing, so we had to use the chair to drape clothes over. The room cards needed reset several times as they can not be near a phone or any credit cards, per staff. The lobby was inviting."
"I love going to the island whenever I can. Sometimes the hotel options are a bit sparse. This was one of those times. I checked the reviews and thought I’d give it a try even though there were so many negative reviews. I have to say that the reviews were right. The hotel is very run down and needs a lot of work. This place was pretty well like a hotel you would see on a horror movie. The hallways were sketchy with the light being broken and just hanging out on the floor for any child to come by and pick up and cut themselves. The floors were dirty. The walls were dirty. The rims were dirty. I can understand being run down and just needing to touch up a bit. But this was just neglect and a simple desire to not clean and keep the property up. There was dust everywhere in the room, ketchup/blood (who knows) on the wall, and grimy floors. The door was broken and had to be forced open and closed, and there was a crack between the door and the door jam big enough you could see through it. Not very private at all. I overheard the cleaning staff talking to someone about being out of “everything” and needing direction on how to do their job. That might be why the place is dirty… These rooms are SMALL. Barely enough room to walk in there. The listing said there was a desk in the room, there was no desk and honestly no room for one if they wanted to put one in there. The breakfast was sketchy. This was the smallest and poorest example of a breakfast I’ve ever seen in a hotel. I’m not sure why more effort wasn’t put forth here. When we arrived we booked a room for 4 people. We had three towels in the room when I got there. I went down to the desk to ask for more and had to beg to get them to do that. They apparently need you to turn in the dirty ones before they will give you more, which they seemed like I was trying to steal the additional towel I asked for…. In general most of the staff I encountered seemed as though it was a chore to interact with customers. Now I will say this, the cleaning staff I encountered were very nice. They always spoke to me and smiled. They were a true gem, I wonder how much better the hotel would be if they let that lady run the place? For now I’ll say that if you are looking for a place to stay on the island, don’t stay here. For the price - this place isn’t cheap - I’d expect way more. I paid about $200 a night to stay here, that is exceptionally high for what you get."
"Just giving two stars because the staff were so nice! We were on the ground floor and the first room we were in had multiple poorly patched holes in the walls and shower and there were ants covering the dresser. The floor was also so filthy our feet were dirty from walking on it. We asked to change rooms and the new room had ants swarming the AC unit along with a direct opening to the outside due to the AC unit being so poorly installed. There was also loose tile in the bathroom. Again the people are extremely nice and cooperative but the quality of the rooms are very poor."
"If you are looking for a five star resort/hotel. This will not be it. If you are looking for a hot shower, bed and working AC after getting attacked by the mosquitoes all day. Then this is the place. Yes it is outdated, carpet reminds you of your grandparents house, walls are thin. But it served its purpose of having a place to stay. Location is perfect"
