Reviews of The Haines Shoe House
"We were able to see the house from the street. I heard they have tours and Ice Cream but for me that was not the case. Nice area, curious place.. but I ended waiting for somthing else."
"What a fun little quirky place! I think they're making it into an Airbnb, but before that, it was a little honeymoon house you could tour for $5. It's a tight fit, if you care about germs, but there's a little bedroom suite in the toe, then a kitchen towards the heel and a second bedroom (for the cook & maid, originally) up in the top. It only takes about 20 minutes to tour and read everything, and there are stairs and some tight spaces. But what a hoot. I'd totally stay here as a guest."
"This was an interesting historical site to visit. The house was really cool. The signs throughout the house did a great job of describing its history. There were a lot of mid-century artifacts on display that were interesting to see. The tour guides/docents at the site were also friendly and informative."
"A very unique stop that is worth making. The shoe house is interesting with some history captured throughout the house. The house is quite small, and I'm a slender person who can move around in it easily. If you are in the larger size or is claustrophobic... you might want to skip the tour of the house and check out my pics. The first floor where the ice cream and souvenir shop are is interesting. The young ladies will give you a brief history of the house there and $5 for the self guided tour. The house is small and could get a bit tight if more than 2-3 people touring at the same time. My favorite part is the dog house. The property is actually quite small with a large field growing something in the back. The fencing surrounding the property has a shoe wooden sign on every part of the fence, and it's cute, dressing up the white picket fence. Check out the shoe mailbox at the entrance."
"I decided to stop and take aerial pictures today of this nice rare building. Sadly they are closed for the season and you can see it from the roadside. This rod side attraction is off the major highway off RT 30. If you would like to see more pictures and a video of this company. Check out my Facebook and YouTube @WOOLFMEDIA1016.
