Reviews of Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum
"So much to do and fun for everyone. I love the history and the nature park for the kids."
"Plenty of parking and picnic areas. The village trail to the boardwalk over to the riverside trail offers a nice view of the marsh and river. Going this route also allows you to stop and see the woodland Indian village."
"This place has way too much to offer for me to cover in this review but I highly recommend this park for several reasons. Just a beautiful park to explore which will take hours if not a couple of trips to really take it all in. Archeological sites, a museum, Maryland archeological conservation laboratory that is open on certain days, interactive educational programs, local events like dog events and Pyro jam (the best firework show I’ve seen). Plenty of hidden little beaches and a couple of larger beaches to explore. Plus a place to launch your own kayaks. A great place to take the dog which I do almost every time. It seems like almost weekly classes to attend but again you need to check out their websites because there is no way to cover everything this place offers. The historical Patterson home is still standing in great shape. If you walk past that there is a nice beach and large pier to walk down. It was also a great place to take our family photos. Be careful when you are driving in what I call the tunnel of trees as so many stop to take photos. On the other side of the park they have the woodland Indian village setup which is great for kids to see how the natives lived. Just a fun, beautiful and educational place to visit."
"An ideal park for taking the family, dogs, significant other, or yourself. Even better if you bring a picnic basket and a blanket. Before going I would bring up their website, so you can see what it all offers. On my first visit, there was a wedding. There's a kayak/canoe launch area, and a handful of trails, you can learn about its history, and see how the Indigenous people might have lived. I am sure I am missing other things the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum has to offer."
"Jefferson Patterson Park is a hidden gem in Calvert County. This park is VERY dog friendly. There are an unbelievable amount of paved paths, great parking, and wonderful views. We love to walk as a family here. My daughter takes her bike and rides often. The parks have great signs all over showing the history of the area. There are also great events held at the park."
