"This is one of the best museums I have ever been to! It is highly interactive. I enjoyed it as a solo adult interested in linguistics, and there was also a whole girl scout troop that stayed engaged for over an hour. There are some more energetic and interactive exhibits and some more passive informative, and they are well spread out. Highly recommend this to all ages. Passes are recommended and can be reserved online with a donation requested by not required, but they try to accommodate walk ins."
"An interactive and fun museum dedicated to language, words and communication. I particularly enjoyed the multilingual planet on the third floor and the library on the second floor. Other rooms explored the relationship between words and humor/wit; rhythms and rimes; music; public speaking; marketing. I’m hoping that as the museum grows they will dedicate rooms to each individual languages with representative literature and music from each."
"This is a donation-based museum that is SO COOL! Definitely fun for almost ages… best for school-aged children and up -(my toddler had fun though) great for adults too. Bring the whole fam! There’s a fun karaoke room and a photo booth and a coloring station and lots of interactive tablets. So many meaningful learning opportunities! I’d definitely recommend! The gift shop is SO cute. You should get tickets ahead of time but we risked it and got in with 3 adults and 2 kids no problem."
"Very interesting concept for a museum. In another life I would've been a linguist, so this actually brought a lot of glee. The museum consists of three floors: top has an exhibit for languages other than English followed by a nice presentation of the history of English on a large word wall. Second floor has clever exhibits for a few select books which try to bring them to life (definitely rekindled my desire to read some fantasy novels.) It also had a karaoke room to expand upon lyrical forms of English. Another exhibit on speeches and oratory. (Also there's a hidden room on the second floor, so explore all that you can!) There is an exhibit on jokes/humor (some of these jokes are very bad, especially at the little digital setup where you and another person attempt to make each other laugh.) We didn't get to explore the last floor much, due to time (we got there towards the end, but we were nearly wrapped up anyway.) I wish there were just a few more exhibits on other languages, too. It was nice to learn what I could, but something that would explore the history of other languages may draw a wider crowd, too!"
"I'm so in love with Planet Word. It may just be my new favorite museum and I LOVE museums (I grew up in the Smithsonian because my mom worked there) so that is high praise. It is such a well done, intentional and beautiful space. It's a magical space for book lovers and word nerds like me. To be honest, I was in there trying to figure out how to have my next birthday party there cause it is sooo cool. Also there's no excuse not to go because it is FREE! I seriously cannot wait to go back and explore some more. Also the staff is excellent, everyone was so nice and welcoming. They reminded me of all my favorite librarians."
