About the St. Cats & Dogs Inc
St. Cats & Dogs Inc, located at 700 Nay Aug Road in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping control and assist the street cat population in the area. Established in 2012, this all-volunteer group works to trap, sterilize, and care for unsocialized cats, allowing them to live out their lives in peace with food and shelter provided by volunteers. They also offer low-cost spay and neuter services for both cats and dogs in collaboration with Eastern Pennsylvania Animal Alliance.
In addition to their Trap-Neuter-Return program, St. Cats & Dogs Inc runs an adoption program for friendly cats and kittens, including those with special needs. Visitors can meet the adoptable pets at Nay Aug Zoo on Wednesdays or by appointment. The organization relies on donations, volunteers, and fundraising events to support their work.
If you're interested in helping out or adopting a furry friend, visit their website for more information. Testimonials from happy adopters show the impact of their work, like Quartz and Martha who found loving homes thanks to St. Cats & Dogs Inc.

Reviews of St. Cats & Dogs Inc
"One of the worst customer service experiences I ever had. I called this location to get rabies information for shots my dog received here Whoever runs this location that’s a man decided to give me an attitude at 11:01am. when I asked for the information. They hung up on me and refused to give me the email address when I politely asked him for that information for my dog. Now they’re refusing to pick up."
"My friend recently reached out to them for help with his surviving cat that was adopted there as a kitten. She is showing signs of possibly something neurological being wrong. On Saturday, she suddenly got vicious and aggressive, continually attacking him. It was terrifying and completely out of character. My friend couldn’t handle it on his own. He contacted Joanne (President/ Treasurer/ board member) and Sheri (board member) for help. They came and captured her for him so they could monitor her until the vet opened Monday morning. We went to pick her up Monday at 7:30 am, but Sheri refused to release his cat back. She insisted on keeping the cat in their care and was uncooperative. Furthermore, they are refusing to give us updates on her condition. Sheri was incredibly rude, insensitive, and disrespectful to him because we mentioned he might have to euthanize her depending on what we found out at the vet. We were both expecting a bad outcome due to the severity of her behavior on Saturday. She said my friend was giving up on her. Joanne gave him a business card for Buffalo and Beyond on Saturday, implying it was a reasonable expectation that she was on board with. We were trying to take things one step at a time knowing we couldn’t plan anything until she was examined by the vet. Sheri came out with her guns loaded demanding a plan, berating my friend who was going through one of the most awful experiences of his life. It was totally uncalled for. Everyone who knows him knows he is an incredible cat dad and he is always willing to do the right thing. He didn’t deserve to be treated like that. We were both completely floored. Sheri’s refusal to release the cat and her aggressive attitude, especially during such a difficult situation, demonstrated a severe lack of empathy and professionalism on her part. This incident was deeply distressing and reflected poorly on the organization as a whole."
"Very professional and caring people that I give a lot of credit to. I love my cats and kittens and am happy I can go to take care of them and feel comfortable. Thank you for all you do!!!"
"Joanne and Ed take wonderful care of these Kittens and adult cats. They depend solely on donations. The staff is strictly volunteer. If you can donate please help them. Every little bit helps. ❤"
"I've given this organization all 5 stars, simply because of the good work they are dedicated to doing! Every community needs stray-care! It's also just volunteer-based, so it's difficult to expect "high-touch" customer service. That said, I do wish there was a more "open" feel. We went at 11am on a Weds, and the main door was essentially closed, and no one was staffing the front desk, though there were cats in crates and one dog. It seemed a bit desolate. I'd love to see this place have "adoption events" and community fund-raisers. I am grateful for the work they do! I understand how hard it is to run on volunteers alone."
