About the North Point State Battlefield
North Point State Battlefield, located at 2878 North Point Road in Dundalk, Maryland, is a historic park and tourist attraction managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. This nine-acre site preserves the last undeveloped parcel from the Battle of North Point, a crucial event during the War of 1812. On September 12, 1814, Maryland militia soldiers defended Baltimore against invading British forces on this very field, with Brigadier General Stricker leading the charge.
Each September, the battlefield commemorates the bravery and resilience shown by the citizens of Baltimore during the Battle of North Point. This event marked a significant turning point in the War of 1812 and showcased the determination of Americans to fight for their independence.
The Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to preserving and protecting Maryland's natural resources for future generations. Additionally, the Maryland General Assembly's Office of Legislative Audits operates a fraud hotline to report any misuse of state government resources. Visit North Point State Battlefield to learn about this important piece of American history and enjoy the serene beauty of the preserved battlefield grounds.

Reviews of North Point State Battlefield
"This trail is nice, peaceful and short. There are many benches along the way and historical facts. It's really interesting to learn the history as you get a walk or jog in. It's per friendly so there are many stations for dogs (poop bags and trash can). The parking lot has enough space for about 20 vehicles. I've visited this trail various times of the day. It's usually 1 or 2 people walking the trail at the most."
"Very peaceful , quiet. Very well maintained grounds. Asphalt walkway encompasses entire battlefield. Concise description of battle, War of 1812 with perm"
"I enjoyed the park. The walkway around the park was nice. The historical signs describing the Battle were excellent, as well. The nearby Battle Acre Park and Aquila Randall Monument were also interesting"
"My doggo & I enjoy this little spot when we don't have several hours for a full park visit. I did find it odd, however, that the sign states it's open 8am - Sunset (which was 4:44pm on the day of our last visit) but the park ranger showed up at 4pm on the dot and told us she was closing the park. May not seem like much but I don't get nearly as much time as I would like to take my old boy on adventures these days and we have even less now that he is sick with Lymphoma, so those 44 minutes were sorely missed."
"It's a lovely trail that has plaques with interesting facts and historic maps along the entire path. It really makes you feel like you were a part of the memories that are shared in this park. It made me proud to live in a town with so much historical significance. I definitely suggest taking a walk through this park. It's great exercise AND it's educational! You'll learn a lot."
