Reviews of City View Apartments
"Let me start by saying, I've always wanted to live at City View(former Washington Plaza). I love my apt, although I would like to have some upgrades; new kitchen appliances, new tile in my hallway and foyer, without a price attached to it. I've been a resident of City View over 20 yrs,and the changes I've seen puts me on the fence. For example, college students who trash apts, because they don't have a vested interest.Pets that they don't clean after. There at the pool with body parts exposed. Children are exposed to the drinking and scantily clad attire.Trash and litter left, when a trash receptacle is present.I don't care for a transient community, because I like to build friendships. I don't believe there are that many 20 plus yr residents left in the building. I would just like them to take care of the long time residents, the way they appear to cater to the new ones that lease apts."
"Prior to moving in, I had been a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews. After living here over the past year and a half it is a pleasure to say that I would highly recommend city view apartments to anyone looking for a place to call home in the Pittsburgh area. It is truly sad I have to relocate from such a great place. The staff are super friendly and most importantly, responsive. They work to bring the community together through hosting events and bringing in local food trucks. The maintenance team works extremely efficiently to keep the place clean and respond to requests in a timely manner. Personally, I thought rent was affordable for what comes with it. My apartment offered a great space with amazing views. I heard little to no noise from surrounding neighbors. Most of my neighbors were friendly and respectful . I frequently used amenities such as the swimming pool, basketball courts, pool table, and gym. When I moved in the elevators were a bit slow and I experienced wait times. They have since been upgraded and over the past few months I have had little to no wait times. Concerns I had prior to moving in were outside noises, city traffic, and cockroaches being an issue. During the night time, the city is quite and noises were never an issue. Day time, there was the occasional street construction but it would be done by early afternoon. Unless your someone who sleeps during the day time, city noise should not be an issue. Getting to the apartment was only an issue within 30 minutes of an event starting or finishing next door. I read reviews about cockroaches being an issue. I experienced no issues and my apartment was next to the trash room on the lower levels. Overall, the city view apartments was a great living experience and provided me with memories that will last a life time."
"Cityview is great, there’s friendly staff & lots of fun events! I don’t particularly like how the utility usage is setup, but that might be normal for Faros properties and/or this area. My apartment has lots of closet space and updated appliances. I don’t use a lot of the amenities, but downstairs has nice and quiet study spaces. In regards to laundry, there’s many machines available and a snack machine for when you wait lol! Overall, I’d recommend cityview for students, starter families or singles looking for a place close to/in the downtown area."
"Let me start off by saying the staff was absolutely incredible and they were the best part of living at City View. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help. For being marketed, and priced, as a "luxury" apartment it was sure lacking in a lot of areas. Starting with the amenities, the fitness center was lackluster as it had very few weight lifting equipment and the clubhouse/lounge was nice but was closed by 11pm every night. If you value having a pool and gym, it'll be worth more to just find a cheaper place and buying a membership at LA Fitness. The hallways frequently smelled like garbage and the parking garage always reeked of garbage from poor dumpster placement. The location was very proximal to downtown with a lot of bus lines nearby but at night, the area felt very unsafe and was quite loud in general. The apartments itself are spacious but the felt run down. There was always a problem with the water. No hot water, water being turned off for repairs, and brown water coming out the tap were common occurrences. The most infuriating part would be regulation of the water temperature. It would go from scolding hot one second to ice cold the next. Furthermore, My walls were uneven and had cracks. The layout was a bit odd and made the kitchen incredibly small with virtually no counter space. I had a bunch of problems with my HVAC as it constantly leaked which made my apartment very humid leading to problems with mold. Additionally, the HVAC was very loud so if you're a light sleeper, good luck trying to sleep with it running. All this made me feel like I was still living in my cheap college apartment. The elevators were a nightmare. Throughout my entire stay, there was always one elevator being worked on and wait times were excruciatingly long at times. They are also very small and that made moving very difficult. They're rolling out a proprietary internet service and the prices are outrageous with their services costing well over double of what Xfinity charged for the same service. Overall, I would not recommend City View to anyone. You can easily find much better apartments for less or much better apartments in general. Not worth putting up with all the cons for how much you're paying."
"City View I absolutely amazing! The management team is the kindest and most helpful I’ve ever had. The maintenance staff takes care of any issue I have right away (even though I never have any issues really). The management team is constantly throwing events for the residents such as pool parties, bingo, and food trucks right to our front door! It really shows that they care about the building and the people that live there. City View also recently upgraded its sports courts to now include a multi sport complex, which is great for my friends and I who love to play Pickleball. After pickleball it’s super relaxing to hop right into the giant pool at City View. City View has even brought in a bunch of floats for the residents to use which saves me from dragging mine to and from my apartment! On top of that, (I know how can it get better) City View has 24/7 security and an entire gated in community, which makes me feel safe and secluded from the busy downtown. There’s also plenty of grass areas and a gated dog park for me to play with my puppy! The building is right downtown, has private security, has the best management team, has the best amenities of any downtown apartment complex, and is still affordable. It’s definitely home for sure."
