Columbia Self-Service Vehicle Emissions Testing Kiosk

"Specifically for this self-service kiosk, the system feels completely unreliable. I tried three times over the course of 10 days. Each time, I had a different message that meant the same thing... "Doesn't work." I saw five other cars seem to have the same problem over the course of the three visits (although I can't understand why no one yelled down the row of waiting cars to let everyone else know). Even then, I suspected it could be my car but had no problems with the full-service station machine. What makes it more frustrating is when an employee is quick to assume it's user error."

"Surprisingly there was a line at 6pm. There were 5 cars ahead of me. The process was rather easy to follow. The most challenging was that the scanner wasn't working and I realized that was the main reason for the line. I like many others wasted time twisting the notice thinking the angle was wrong, etc before entering the information manually. Additionally, I had to get on the ground to look up under my dash to find the attachment location. Other than that, it was a fair experience."

"Should have awning to block sun on the self serve kiosk; I can understand why one is not there as so cameras will have no blind spots. Regardless, it makes the process harder and it's bleaching the self serve machine due to its location and positioning."

"It was very easy to use. Cheaper than waiting in line during open hours and having them do it. Plus the kiosk is open 24/7! This is how I will be going through emissions from now on. Give it a try, there are step by step instructions."

"Got here at 9:45pm on a Monday night and it only took me 2 minutes. Very simple and easy to use. After going to the machine in Beltsville that did not work, I was annoyed. I’m glad this one was simple and easy. Will use it again next time."
