"Waverly Main Street's orientation is making Greenmount "safer" for Hopkins students. This orientation counts with the direct participation of the Councilwoman Odette Ramos, Red Emma's, and the Abell Improvement Association, among others. Paid directly by Hopkins, Waverly Main Street's leadership also supports Hopkins having its own private police... We know where this story goes."
"When we attended an event due to concerns from neighbors, we were informed that a reason the space was created is so that Hopkins students feel safe walking to the Giant...... and gentrifying Greenmount ave. The CEO, Board, and executive staff were very confrontational and have not introduced themselves to the neighbors, only businesses and selected community orgs that they influence. They shut down the street with no notice to the people that live on the street. Did not notify neighbors on the street the closed down of any development plans"
"This piece of private property (owned by the nonprofit org Waverly Main Street) is a great public asset, offering free music concerts featuring local bands every other Thursday night in the summer. It's wonderful to have a neighborhood spot to gather, enjoy the local kabobs across the street, and savor the Baltimore summer! On Saturdays, the spot becomes an extension of the 32nd Street Farmers' Market, giving shoppers a spot to sit and eat their market goodies."
"It's easy to miss the historical marker in this garden and community gathering space. The gardens honor the former students and teachers of the segregated PS 115 which used to occupy the site."
"I can't even begin to describe the level of entitlement of this organization and how they physically ripped public health flyers out of my hands and got in my face during the pandemic for coming to a concert with mutual aid and important neighborhood information"
