"My cousin and I have stayed at the Stone Home at Shallowbrook Farm for 2 years in a row and this year look forward to staying at the Carpenter House. We spend our time sunbathing, sewing, and shopping. Our experience has been nothing less than WONDERFUL on every level. The home and grounds are immaculate. The staff is friendly and our interaction with the Wanda and Lyndsay have been friendly and professional, they are quick to answer any questions we have had. AND.... the delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies that await us on the counter as we arrive (along with a welcome note on the chalkboard)..... OH MY WORD... are the best EVER!!!!! The experience offers everything we hope for in a vacation. Privacy and beauty that provides the peace and rest that we so long for from our busy every day lives. There is plenty to do in the area, within a short drive. If your lucky you might even get to meet Meghan and Daisy. We hope to make this our Chic Week vacation destination for many years to come and hope to try it out in the winter next year for a long weekend. We use to vacation in OBX and changed to Shallowbrook Farm... that should tell you something! :) We higly recommend Shallow Brook Farm!!"

"The farm house is beautiful. There are LOTS of rooms, beautifully decorated with a homey, country theme. The hosts were attentive to our emails and we received answers promptly, which was very appreciated. There were a few disppointing moments, though. First, the price was listed online incorrectly; we found out we had to pay more. Then we found out that bedding and bath towels were extra again. The "coffee station" had only a 12-cup coffee maker, filters and coffee. Perhaps I am ignorant, but I expected sugar to be available. After a long trip and after settling in, our first sit-down-together-coffee moment was very disappointing and we had one more thing do - got back out to town and buy something. We rented the house because our daughter was getting married. Early in the morning we were all excited and the make up lady and hair lady came to the house to make us all beautiful. There was a knock at the door and we were informed that "this is a working horse farm and you need to move those cars so the driveway is clear." We were all a little surprised at the tone. With the wedding, dinner, rehearsal, and pictures, we were rarely at the house except to sleep, but the beautiful, clean house did make the stay special and memorable."

"To be clear. I am not rating the lodging and vacation rentals. This rating is for their horse boarding operation which is on the property. Unfortunately there have been cases where vacation renters, mingled unsupervised, with horses being boarded. The horse boarding operation is run by the owners' daughter. Boarding reviews being padded since my review. You can't say negatives if you are still boarding there. I will gladly provide details of issues upon request."

"I have two horses at Shallowbrook and have been there for eight years. Wonderful care, a wonderful property, and wonderful people. The vacation rentals have always brought in friendly and respectful people. I have never had an issue with any of them. Shallowbrook is a pretty special place."
