"For the pomp and decor, including live music venue and a full bar, you'd expect the room to be WAY nicer. Had to pay for breakfast, which was nothing more than I've had (price included) at other hotels. Stiff bed and terrible pillows. Hairdryer caught fire, which was funny but not great."
"Very nice people at front desk. The entire place is very unique with large enclosed area and indoor pool. The rooms could use updating, but they are clean. Having a bar / restaurant within the enclosed area is very convenient. Will stay there again"
"Hotel is definitely outdated. Felt more like an upscale motel. Staff was friendly. I read alot of reviews about the band but because where my room was I never heard it unless I was in the pool area. Pool was a nice size kids enjoyed it. The water was freezing though. I liked the location most of all. I was close enough to campus without being on campus since we were visiting."
"I’m here now. This hotel looks pretty rundown from the outside. But inside it seems like they are working on updates. The courtyard and the pool are really neat. Definitely much better than a hotel pool that is off in some corner room somewhere. It gives it an interesting atmosphere, for sure. But what really brought the rating down for me here is the fact that we spent all day on our feet at IUP, visiting with our niece, walking around downtown, and when we got back to the hotel to sleep there was an extremely loud band playing at the restaurant just off the courtyard. I am in bed right now and wanting to sleep, and the band sounds like it’s right outside our room. Whose idea was it to have a live band playing in a place where people are paying for a place to sleep?? We have two kids with us who are exhausted and can’t fall asleep because there is literally rock music vibrating throughout the courtyard. Maybe in a hotel where there is a restaurant on the first floor and then rooms on a separate floor, but all of these rooms face the courtyard where the restaurant opens up to and the music is so loud. Do not book here in a weekend if you want to actually sleep."
"Stayed here in January 2022 and the Ramada served its purpose because the Hilton and Holiday Inn were fully booked. Location: Very close to IUP and the downtown with lots of great local restaurants. We felt safe during our stay. Rooms: Dire need of updates. It felt like we time traveled to the early 2000s, and that would be a generous statement. Upon checking in, we noticed there was a dirty diaper in one of the waste bins. Not sure how housekeeping missed that when cleaning after the previous guest. Carpet in the rooms is filthy. The towel rack in the bathroom collapsed at one point. Towels are very thin but serve their purpose. Lights were a little dim in the sleeping area and some didn't work. A couple of the electrical outlets didn't work. Mattress felt pretty lumpy and it was definitely not the most restful hotel sleep. The comforter looked super old and was well worn. The interior window to see into the pool area is neat since there's no window to see outside. Room temp felt fine. Public areas: The pool itself is very nice, but WHY IS THERE CARPET ON THE POOL DECK?!?!? Gross. Plenty of parking. It had snowed the night prior and the grounds were clear. The exterior of the buildings was clean. Dining area is quite nice. The carpet in the halls could use a deep clean and vacuum. The towel shelves in the pool area were empty and it took about 30 min to flag down a staff member after I had initially requested them to bring some to the pool deck. Breakfast: Great variety but definitely understaffed. There was an athletic event in town and the staff couldn't keep up with the demand so it took a while to refill trays and beverage coolers. Food tasted good and was at an appropriate temperature. Service: Staff were awesome and very helpful in recommending local things. When we were checking out and mentioned some of the things about our room, the staff member was very accommodating and discounted our stay without anyone putting up a fuss."
