Reviews
"Greatest pet store around. Very knowledgeable staff & have it all!"
"I only was in the front part of the store to buy a dog sweater, but it was very obviously cluttered and dirty. I couldn’t breathe while inside because the odor emanating from the animal cages was so strong that it made my eyes water, throat burn, and it gave me a mild headache. I know that there will always be an odor with pet stores, but this was so bad that I couldn’t be bothered to look at anything else and get out as quickly as possible."
"Planned on having to go to petco after visiting this small business but I could not have been more wrong. I went in wanting a new beta aquarium and all the bells and whistles to go with it. The woman was such a great help and could answer every question I had with additional information as well. Definitely going back for more plants and more aquatic friends."
"I usually love small independent pet shops, not this one. I ahve to agree with other reviews, that this place is pretty disgusting. The aquariums are extremely dirty. The photo attached is one of the cleaner ones I saw. Way to much inventory, looks like a hoarder situation. Way overpriced. I get a small business will be more expensive but those stuff was double the cost at a Petco. I couldn't even tell where the checkout was because there was so much stuff. Cages on top of cages of animals. Seems like this could be a great spot if they clean up, organize, take better care of the animals."
"The warm-blooded animals and reptiles looked healthy enough considering their small-caged circumstances, but despite those enclosures being a temporary home for them it’s just cruel and disturbing to see animals piled on top of each other in order to avoid sleeping on top of their own fecal piles… The chinchillas were especially stacked atop one another, as pictured. Four chinchillas in a cage smaller than the single chinchilla enclosure at PetCo… Not cool. I can’t imagine chinchillas are sold daily, so who knows how long they have lived like this? Some of the fish tanks were impossible to see into due to the thick green algae and grayish dirt on the inside of the tank. Fish looked sickly as well. When reviewing, I take staffing into account. There were at least five employees working at the store in the time I was there. Two sitting on the floor stocking supplies, one floating around the store, one at the register, and one who seemed to be doing whatever needed picked up in between. There’s no excuse for the tanks and enclosures to be that filthy when there are at least five employees at the store at once. Floors? I don’t care. It’s a pet store. It won’t be spick and span. But the enclosures? No. I appreciated the store’s variety in both animals and products, but due to the obvious neglect of the animals I will refrain from shopping here. I can’t believe I’d ever prefer PetCo over a small business… this was just despicable. EDIT: The in-store pet dogs are sweet, though. Especially the golden retriever."
