Reviews of Gymsport Athletic Center
"The classes are wonderful, but their ability to communicate is not. My child has been attending since April, I believe. The "first" day of class, it turns out there was an event occurring, so there were no classes. Nothing about this was ever communicated to us (even a simple "there is no class [this date]" account notification), so we showed up to a class that wasn't occurring. Next, as a new family, I wasn't aware that classes were only for an instruction year, then needed registered for again when sign ups came out. No notification about new class sign ups or anything being available. Was waitlisted for a class, but signed up for a different class in the meantime. On the last day of class of the instruction year, the class was moved a couple hours later. They sent out a text to parents' cell phones, but it didn't come to mine. Fortunately my husband received it, so we knew. I asked why I never received it, and left my number at the front desk. Jeremy texted me, showing a screen where it was sent and showing my phone number, so we figured it was a system error. He offered a discount for the inconvenience, but I declined. It turns out the reason why I never received the message is because my cell phone number was wrong on the account (last digit was incorrect), but my actual cell phone number was listed as the home phone number. He showed me my home phone number, not the cell phone number listed on the account. I didn't figure this out until later. When my child's name was up on the waitlist, the wrong cell phone number was called. It was the only number notified (not my husband's, not the home phone number/my correct phone number that they had been able to communicate with me over, not an account notification that gets emailed out). I didn't realize my child was off the waitlist until a week or two later when I realized the waitlist was missing from the account. I asked about this, got on the waitlist again, and asked what had happened. I was directed to Lauren. She said which number she called and left a message, then that no one got back within 48 hours, so the spot was given to the next child, and my child was now at the end of the line again. When I pointed out that the number she called wasn't mine (over email) and that they'd contacted us with the correct numbers before (over phone, but not with Lauren...I only ever got her answering machine, and she didn't seem to be responding to those messages), she emailed me "I apologize for the inconvenience since your phone number was listed incorrectly on your account." If they kept a consist way of contacting parents, the phone number problem would have been resolved faster (when it came up with Jeremy) and wouldn't have been an issue. Instead, they can't decide on a way of contacting parents and go between account notifications, texts to all cell phones, phone calls to only one parent cell phone on the account, texting the "home" phone number, or just outright not communicating anything. So far anyway. I don't know if there's another option we just haven't experienced yet. Edited to add: Lauren was kind enough to respond promptly to this review and requested suggestions on how to improve in her response. I'll email this to her also, but my suggestion is already stated above. Please find a single, consist way of contacting parents and clearly communicate to the parents what this method of contact is."
"My daughter has been going to gymsport for over a year now. She absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every week! We just had her 5th birthday party there and it was wonderful!"
"AVOID... this is the kind of business that deserves to & will fail. We didn't make it past the old lady at the door! We attempted to attend a school playdate, kindly organised by one of the parents at the local Montessori school, but we were quickly made to feel unwelcome by the employee of "Gymsport Athletic Center" and thought best to leave. It was obvious the elderly lady at the front desk was struggling with her communication skills, but in the presence of kids, she should be better trained. The woman was rude and unhospitable from the initial encounter upon entering the (broken)door. She erroneously believed that I (and other customers) were having difficulty with their ridiculous online app for signing waivers and organising payments/etc.... She was so focussed on rudely trying to grab my phone out of my hands and over-talk me, that she didn't even realise what the issue was or if there even was an issue. It was so strange... I was attempting to speak to this woman and ask questions, but she would just lung out to grab my phone like a child! lol. I actually had to hold my iPhone away from her, and then finally had to politely tell her to "Stop". Then mid conversation, this rude lady, would just walk away and address others... so I guess my child and I went to the back of the line. 20min later, and with a very confused and sad child, I had enough and asked for someone "in charge" to delete my account (JFYI, you have to give them credit card subscription info for a 30min one-time play session??!! lol. No way... not even in that little podunk village. ) Neverminding the place is filthy, the door is broken & unsafe... (had to help two different women struggling with the door.), it's also in a trashy area in some old disused industrial park literally 'on the other side of the tracks'. If you can't find anywhere more polite, cleaner, safer, and welcoming than this joke of a business.... then, maybe just keep your kids at home. Avoid Gymspace like the plague! :p ;)"
"We take our 4 year old daughter to Gymsport for the Little Lions and Mighty Minions classes and she’s also been there for their open gym sessions. The gym is very clean and well maintained with equipment that’s in excellent condition. As a parent I enjoy that I can see almost the entire gym from the lobby area and for when I can’t be in the gym in person they have an amazing app called SpotTV which allows secure login during your child class so you can watch! This is fantastic since my inlaws live out of state and otherwise would never get to see her in class. The staff is absolutely amazing!! Robin at the front desk is very kind, patient and helpful when I ask a million questions. Coach Gina is the Little Lions coach for my daughter and she seems great. Coach Allison actually coaches the older kids but is there during open gym and offered my daughter so much advice and direction and she was able to do so much more than I ever expected. It shows how personally invested she is in the kids, their success and the sport. Now, our personal favorite is Coach Emily. She is AMAZING!! She coaches the Mighty Minions class which is like mini parkour. She’s super laid back and incredibly patient but my personal favorite about her is that she seems very real with the kids which is refreshing. She’s silly but focused which is a tough balance to achieve and she treats each student equally no matter their skill level so they all get equal attention. My daughter looks forward to her Mighty Minions class every week and even though she doesn’t coach her Little Lions class, she’s still in the gym during our session and my daughter looks all around for her so she can say hi. Coach Emily has a huge fan in my kid and I! There’s another coach, Coach Todd, who Hasn’t coached my daughter but I’ve heard him coaching other children and he’s great too. He’s relatable and silly and focused on the skills and the kids seem to really love him. They also have this really incredible program where they learn something new each month to help develop them as people, not just athletes. So far we’ve had ‘confidence’ and ‘responsibility’ and the lessons are powerful. They include information from professional child psychologists and activities to help the kids understand what the words mean and how to make examples of them in their lives. I really appreciate the passion that this gym puts out there. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Gymsport for young children!"
"We were previously at a different gymnastics program for my daughter. I took my son to a preschool play day at Gymsport. As soon as we walked in, I was impressed with how large the gym was as well as the amount of equipment that was available for their gymnasts to train on. We ended up taking my daughter for an evaluation and subsequently switched gyms to gymsport. She no longer has to waste time sitting around waiting for her turn... the entire time she is there she is training. She has been there for over 3 years now and we still love it. Her progress is unbelievable! The staff are amazing with communication and truly care about your kiddo whether they are in their recreational program or on their competitive teams. There really is a program for everyone!"
