"I have only great things to say about my experience with Gentle Landing. First of all, the midwives are exceptional in their teamwork and have complimentary skills. I had my prenatal care with Megan, Katie and Jessica. Megan, Katie and my doula Luci were at the birth center with me for the birth of my first child. My postpartum care was with Megan and Jessica. I was 100% comfortable with them all, and that was important to me. There is so much to navigate when you are pregnant (especially when it is the first time and everything is unknown)! I knew I wanted to approach the birth as a natural experience and not a medical event, but I also wasn’t ready to sign up for a home birth and be more than 30 minutes away from an excellent hospital. I was so excited when I found out about the GL Birth Center – it seemed like the perfect solution being just a few minutes from DHMC. What I discovered with Gentle Landing was a super-experienced team of midwives, framework of informed choice, mind/body/spirit preparation, non-judgmental and non-rushed conversations and care, and an all-around lovely environment. My husband and I were rather blown away that we were able to give birth in a spacious room that felt like a modern European hotel room. Ooh that bed was comfortable! I loved that it was quiet and there weren’t any other people (or germs) around. I felt safe and supported at every stage of my pregnancy and postpartum journey. I had a very swift and smooth birth at the birth center. My husband said, “I remember walking into the birth center when you were in labor without any worries-- honestly feeling excited-- knowing we were in great hands.” Our baby was born with my husband in the tub with me, as I had hoped. It was one of the most empowered, intense, and beautiful experiences of my life. We were only at the birth center for a few hours before going home as a family! It was surreal, but as Kelli said in her review, “The postpartum care is something of dreams. Rather than the one postpartum appointment at 6 weeks there are multiple appointments as well as unlimited text support from the midwives.” It was wonderful to receive postpartum care in my own bedroom and not have to take my newborn out in the car for appointments during those tender early weeks. I am so deeply grateful that I found Gentle Landing. If you have a low-risk pregnancy and are looking to have an empowered experience, look no further.
