"Super cute little place with candy and ice cream. Be warned that the rolled-up ice cream takes a while to make. If you're in a rush, just get the premade. My only complaint is the silly spoons. They are too weak to actually eat the ice cream with."
"Ava’s is absolutely magical. This family run business is run by Ava and her parents… well Mostly her parents, Scott and Jamie, but Ava also helps out around the store. They have scooped ice cream from Giffords and custom rolled ice cream. They have dairy alternatives for both. The rolled ice cream can contain fresh fruit, cookies, or Jamie’s homemade apple crisp that she makes several times a week. If ice cream isn’t your jam, try an Italian ice or a shaved ice, the shaved ice being their newest addition! The candy within the store boasts a variety of classic and newer treats. Chocolate, gummies, gum, hard candies, sour candies, jaw breakers, and fun novelty candies. If you’re in need of a birthday gift, Ava’s has you covered with a variety of toys as well! Check out the selection of Pez dispensers too… they have tons to choose from! Ava’s has custom made solid chocolate treats in a variety of shapes and sizes. Or indulge in their French macarons- they are divine. Perfectly chewy and balanced with a perfect amount of filling every time. Ava’s is open Tuesday-Sunday, Monday being their only day closed. They are open until 7pm. Stop in and grab a treat— there is something for everyone!"
"Incredible. We came for the rolled ice cream and it was well worth the $7.99 each. We got the 'smores and the maple something or other. Both were fantastic (though I preferred the 'smores). It was great to watch it being made. Even better to eat it. The portion size was just fine (and should be for all the effort and the price). The store has plenty of options for unique candy. The decor is great and I love the downtown location, right across from the center for the arts. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will love coming back here."
"I accidentally stumbled across this shop online as I was looking something up. Just a hop across the river, I was surprised we didn't know it existed as we love ice cream shops. And what was rolled ice cream? I was very curious. I had never heard of it before so we definitely had to visit this shop. We went and I had the strawberry summer and my daughter had the mermaid tail. It was neat to be able to watch the rolled ice cream process (or parts of it anyway with little kids in tow). My husband didn't think he would like rolled ice cream so he opted for traditional hard ice cream (yummy Gifford's Ice Cream!). Although he liked his traditional ice cream, he regretted not getting rolled ice cream as it did not disappoint. He agreed it was very good. In addition to rolled ice cream, we tried three different Macarons. We had chocolate, lemon and cookies and cream. My favorite was the lemon and my daughter's was the chocolate. They are pricey but tasty. I do wish there were more seating options outside to sit and enjoy ice cream. We had an overall delicious experience and we'll be back!!!"
"I like it. It's a small little candy shop, nothing TOO outrageous, but there is definitely a home town charm to it. Colorful decoration that my boyfriend and I just kept noticing and we were there for maybe 10 minutes to get candy and wait for the rolled ice cream. It was SO GOOD! Our first time having rolled ice cream and it was amazing, I would drive back 40 minutes for more. Only 1 star off from 5, because although at first sight it looks like they're is a lot to choose from, I would have been leaving fairly empty handed had we not noticed the rolled ice cream. The only candy I got was the sour belts and Peach Rings. However, the Peach Rings (which I swore I hated) somehow tasted better than others I've had before. EDIT: we went back and I was fortunate enough to get some of the marcons - To. DIE. FOR!!! So good! I have a bad habit of trying them whenever I'm see them places, and they're the best ones I've had! I've even tried some from DisneyWorld and they're so bland compared to this store's!"
