Reviews of Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Plattsburgh
"We checked in on 12/24 and was welcomed and checked in by a friendly staff member for our 5 night stay. The first night everything was fine, it was quiet and we had the pool/hot tubs to ourselves. On night 3, a large group of teenagers (or gorillas, who knows) was checked in and placed in the room directly above ours. The noise was unreal! It sounded like they were just jumping off the bed onto the floor over and over again. I called the front desk three times and the gentleman there said he went up and told them to knock it off, but the noise never really stopped. There were almost no cars in the parking lot that evening, so I’m not sure why a rambunctious group would have been placed directly above an occupied room in the first place given the low occupancy. On the 4th night we woke up to a pretty serious water leak coming from upstairs and leaking through our bathroom ceiling. I told the staff at the front desk and we were given a new room directly across the hall. Breakfast was served daily and was pretty good. Most days there were hard boiled and scrambled eggs, meats, cereal, toast and bagels - and of course fresh coffee. In my point of view this hotel really wants to be a “nice” hotel, but missed on a few marks. Between the escaped zoo animals being booked above our room and the subsequent water leak, along with some ratty looking sconce lights in the hallway, this hotel is a solid 3 stars. The staff were polite when I had addressed my issues, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. I would stay here again."
"Very nice hotel with great customer service. The only downfall was the pool was supposed to be heated and it was ice cold. Other then that the rooms were beautiful and the beds were so comfortable"
"The room was wonderful. The service, not so much. If you need to contact someone, a live person, forget it. No one answers the phone. The housekeeping staff did not replenish the coffee, creamer, etc. Nor did they give us more toilet paper when we asked. The front desk is insane. We left a pair of shoes in the room. We have been unable to contact them about it since we got home. No one answers the phone. There is no where to even text them a message."
"For the price, I did not feel like this hotel was a good comparison to the competitor across the street. While I'm generally loyal to the Marriott brand, I won't be staying here again. First: We walked in to not being greeted by the desk attendant. She was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge our existence. Her co-worker walked in the door and barely had enough time to clock in, but he promptly proceeded to help us even though she had ended her phone call by that point. He even asked her to help us, so he could finish getting prepared to start work, and she actually shrugged as she proceeded to pick up a ringing phone. Although he was understandably frustrated, he was kind and walked through all the procedures thoroughly, even though more people arrived at the desk while he was helping us, the phone was ringing, and she was on the phone. Second: Shortly after we walked into our room, I noticed that the sink had a large crack in it, rendering it unusable. I called the desk and let them know we needed a new room. When we arrived back at the desk, a new person (possibly a manager) proceeded to tell us that they were completely sold out, so we couldn't have a room equivalent to the room we had already checked into. The new room was not an issue because the room she provided was a sufficient alternative. However, don't start out an interaction with an excuse, when I'm already annoyed that we had to pack up our stuff and come back down entirely because the room you selected for us was unsuitable and should have been taken out of surface before you assigned it to us. Had that been done, we wouldn't be having this uncomfortable interaction right now, so you being sold out is really not my problem. Sorry, but that's true. It would be better to just apologize for that room even being assigned to me in that condition, and then offer me an alternative from what's available. Third: The "breakfast" isn't much more than microwaved pre-packaged sandwiches and cereal. I don't expect much for this hotel tier, but the sandwiches that I did try were inedible. The hotel across the street at least offered self-prepared waffles. I don't think it's accurate to advertise what was available as "breakfast." You should just go without offering breakfast. You'll likely have fewer unsatisfied guests who leave hungry to go buy breakfast than if you just didn't claim to offer breakfast."
"Shout out to the room support team, who work really hard, and to the desk staff. Special thanks to Nate for being a true professional even in the face of me being a little bit cranky and also the parent of two relatively zombie-like (and flesh eating) toddlers after a five hour trip to the furthest reaches of the New York plains. He did a great job communicating with the staff and prioritizing our room availability. Also, if you do arrive a bit earlier than check in, and have some kids that are - you know - in need of a jaunt, there is a great bounce house spot in the mall. There’s only one mall. You know what I’m talking about. For a reasonable fee, I was able to enjoy a Starbucks coffee and simultaneously turn the responsibility factor for my kids down to about 0 for almost 10 full minutes. It was well deserved. Anyway, let’s go Nate! Thanks man! Nice clean rooms, good location, quiet."
