Middlebury Dance Center, located in Middlebury, Vermont, offers a variety of academic and performance opportunities for students interested in dance. The Dance Department provides a minor, joint major, or full major leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as the option to take dance courses for academic credit. Students have the chance to participate in guest artists' master classes and faculty- and student-choreographed concerts.

The core curriculum of the Dance Department covers contemporary and world dance techniques, improvisation and choreography, history, theory, cultural studies, experiential anatomy, kinesiology, and performance. The major is designed to provide a solid foundation in dance while allowing for individual educational goals.

Joint and full dance majors can propose independent projects in their senior years, which may culminate in performances or other creative forms. The faculty includes dance professionals, musicians, composers, and a lighting designer/technical director, with additional guest artists and performances throughout the year.

The Dance Company of Middlebury (DCM) is selected annually by audition and performs a diverse concert of work both at Middlebury and on tour in various locations worldwide. First-year students are encouraged to explore the Dance Department through classes, auditions, and attendance at concerts before joining DCM in their sophomore year.

In addition to regular performances, the Dance Center offers Movement Matters Masterclasses with Guest Artists, such as Bharatanatyam Indian classical dance expert Subashini Ganesan-Forbes. These classes provide insight into different dance forms and their intersection with contemporary dance. The Center is located at the Mahaney Arts Center at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT.
