Reviews of Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Society
"The staff and volunteers work endlessly provide excellent care and a very friendly environment for the cats and dogs."
"My wife and I were denied a cat because one of our golden retrievers had not yet been neutered. There is considerable evidence that early neutering in goldens is tied to orthopedic issues and some forms of cancer. Being a retired epidemiologist I sent them a few easily understood studies which they labeled “fake science”. The young woman on the phone told me I was irresponsible and there was no way they would let their spayed kitten risk a pregnancy by my unneutered dog! Seriously? I think at that point she had gone so completely postal she was making no sense at all. We then went to another shelter in central Vermont and quickly adopted a pair of kittens that are living the good life and play constantly with our dogs. There have been no inter species pregnancies. EDIT: RE the response from the owner. I stand by my review of our interaction with your rudely aggressive staff. It’s probably not in your records because our visit was two years ago. Had your volunteer simply stated that policy I would have been fine, but to instantly label us irresponsible and to discount multiple studies linking cancer and orthopedic issues to neutering before epiphyseal fusion was just plain ignorance. Since then we’ve donated $2000 to other shelters that showed more kindness and professionalism, and our two kittens have enjoyed a wonderful life with their canine brothers"
"Not happy with the service. I've been trying to find a home for my dog for quite some time now and the lady that had my case lied about reaching out to me. Now, they're threatening to take me off the list if I miss one more appointment. (Being the first time that I was aware of even having any!) She was very rude, obviously can't do her job right and shouldn't be working there. According to the other comments I'm not the only one."
