"Called multiple times for mental health and got the front desk answering machine. And when I did get a call back after leaving multiple messages I was told by Meg Garretty that she had never received them and was called a liar for trying to get some help. Used to love the VA in Vermont now they have gotten just as bad as anywhere else"
"Used to love the VA health care system in Vermont. 15 years now and I have nothing but disgust with what they have become here. Very unhelpful if not a complete lack of caring at all. Seems to be common place in the VA health care system around our country now. I NEVER THOUGHT VERMONT WOULD BECOME LIKE THE OTHERS ELSEWHERE! I no longer wonder why so many veterans self medicate with illegal substances or choose to take their own lives ONLY because the VA system CHOOSES to ignore them and treat them like trash in their times of need... THANKS FOR NOTHING VERMONT VA!!!"
"I have always found the people here to be friendly and work to quickly get you in to see a doctor or nurse. The downside was that I've had referrals not get sent through in a timely fashion. My impression was that they got lost in the shuffle. While this was irritating, I have had the same thing happen at a very good civilian hospital, so this doesn't rate the VA Clinic lower than anywhere else (I tend to do my scores relative to other similar establishments). Since that incident, I have been pretty proactive about calling/emailing to follow-up on my referrals. I haven't had a single issue since."
"Absolutely amazing. I have used my own insurance for the last 20+ years. Recently it became too expensive for me, so I decided to go with the VA route. Had a minor medical issue and they were so nice and helpful. Quick resultion of my issue, and I hadn't set up an appointment first. I'm 50 years old and work in customer service and sales. To this day I have yet to receive the service that was provided to me by the va clinic in Burlington."
"I was treated here for 3 years and as far as VA services go this is absolutely phenomenal, the white river junction location is great too. The location is wonderful and easy to get to, its new inside which is nice, and I have NEVER been treated so well as a military veteran. I cannot commend this place enough for its customer service and attitude, the people here really care about their veterans and do the best they can with what they have (often there are staff shortages and lack of funding, like most Veterans programs). It can be hard to get someone on the phone right away, but leaving a message ALWAYS gets me a return call same-day. That being said, like most Veterans clinics its hard to get an appointment. I am lucky enough that my doctor gave me her nurse line in case of emergency and for basic prescription refills, but I am sure that is an anomaly. The wait time is about 60-90 days depending on the season (winter is harder to get appts). Prescriptions can be a bit of a hassle as there is no pharmacy on location, so they have to contract out. This can be irritating as I frequently had the "we arent seeing it in the computer" conversation for my prescriptions. But usually it was remedied in 24 hours or less. I have been treated at 4 different VA hospitals and never received the level of care the Vermont VA center and its affiliates offer. Thank you!"
