"One of my fave movie theaters typically but was shocked to find out today how inflexible they are w/ refunds. I was running late for a film, got in around 10 min. after posted start time expecting trailers to run for 10-15 min. which is the standard for theaters nowadays. Still, to be sure, I checked w/ the box office guy, "Can I still catch the movie?", as well as the ticketing agent at the door, both of whom responded in the affirmative. When I got in, the film had already started, so I exited and a staff member mentioned the film had started for about 8 min. already. I thought a refund would be no problem or even just an in-house credit but I was wrong. Despite speaking w/ a manager, they wouldn't budge. I rarely encounter such a scenario but I do remember getting a refund or in-house credit for something similar eons ago. Both the box office agent and the manager played dumb about what "catch the movie" meant. A customer is running late and gets in after the start time, it's no big leap then that one would be worried whether they can catch the start of the film. Lesson learned, next time I'll be more more black and white and ask instead if the film has started already and avoid this theater altogether unless I can be there early. Admittedly, it was a mistake on my part to liken movie theater purchases w/ retail store purchases, the latter which is known for more liberal refund policies. While they did offer a credit for the same film for another day, which I almost took, it wouldn't work for me sched-wise since the film is about 3 hrs. Otherwise, the movie, a Vietnamese independent film, was outstanding despite missing about 15 min. of the start, plus the stress of getting a refund."
"The cinema's themed movie nights and special screenings add an extra layer of excitement, making every visit a unique and enjoyable experience."
"This has quickly become my favorite movie theater in NYC. Great selection of films, student discounts (!!!) and a great environment. The cafe inside is really cute, and I really love the community of cinephiles that come here. You can really feel like everyone is here for the same reason—their love of cinema!"
"Film Lincoln center has become so bad that they had to hire all these unqualified people with the worst customer service experience I was ever provided my whole life. Terrible leadership team. Their manager handling membership didn’t even have the manner to respect their long term client and didn’t even let me speak. Instead he showed me such a terrible attitude of discrimination and disrespect. Will not support any of their screening moving forward. They cancelled my membership and my tickets without even sending me one confirmation notice. I asked their leader to get back to me. Nobody responded. Never ask me to pay one penny for the membership I already cancel. All go to hell if you dare to charge me one penny for the membership for this insulting experience they made me encounter."
"The theatre - the films - the prices are all great here. Student discounts available. And there’s a great cafe with more than your average movie-going fare you can take in with you."
