"I wish I could remember the names of the staff who helped me during my time there because each one of them had a huge impact on me. I was nervous about going inpatient because I had heard horror stories about psychiatric hospitals but my experience here was lovely. Every staff was different which is to be expected but overall I felt cared for and safe and all my needs were met. Plus the food was exquisite, shout out chef Drew"
"I dont understand the bad reviews of this place at all. Not a single one accurately represents my experience there. The staff were exceptional and actually cared. Reading some of these reviews before i was admitted had me worried but i honestly feel like i couldnt have ended up anywhere better. I came in and was barely able to interact with people beyond muted basic responses to questions. I left feeling like myself for the first time in months, maybe years. Of course some staff are more by the books than others, and not all personalities mesh all the time, but i never felt like myself or the other patients were treated poorly. They dont push you to do anything you really arent able to deal with and are always there to help you through what you may be going through. And even the food was excellent (shout out to Drew for that one!) I hope I never get to a point where I need an inpatient stay again, but if I do its good to know the Windham center exists, I would absolutely go back if ever I needed to."
"I have been to several inpatient psychiatric hospitals from California to Florida Maryland and now here in VT and this place is by far the BEST representation of what care for one of the most vulnerable demographics of our society. I was treated with respect and genuine care/concern. As with alot of businesses not all employees enjoyed what they do. But as a rule every member of the staff was amazing. I would highly recommend Windham Center for your loved ones mental health care. Thank Ernie and Elana."
"My daughter was admitted to this facility a few weeks ago. I don't understand the bad reviews. Maybe things have changed. Her care was EXCEPTIONAL!! They were attentive, structured, careful, clean, and the staff went the extra mile ALWAYS. Two people stood out especially. Ernie and Alena....best representation of this facility that could ever be expected. Kudos to you all."
"I am appalled and deeply disappointed by the abysmal treatment my friend received at the Windham Center for Psychiatric Care. This mental institution, if it can even be called that, showcased an utter lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic human decency throughout the duration of his stay. From start, he claimed all the staff were very friendly and easy to speak with. He was beginning to recover just mere hours of his stay. But in the end, this place proved to be an abhorrent example of how not to care for vulnerable individuals in need of mental health support. He was transported to the Windham Center for Psychiatric Care for his suicidal tendencies, potential bipolar disorder and schizophrenic mannerisms. From the Emergency room with the hope of receiving the help he so desperately required. However, what he encountered was a harrowing ordeal that has left me utterly outraged. Despite arriving at around 8:00pm, a time when patients should expect to receive prompt attention and care, His brief visit was ended with neglect and indifference. To make matters worse, the center shamelessly decided to discharge Him merely a few hours later, citing his supposed "disruptive" behavior as the reason. I find it utterly incredulous that a facility entrusted with the responsibility of treating mental health patients would resort to such an excuse to shirk their obligations. Discharging a patient at approximately 3:30am (Barely 8 hours after being admitted), alone and vulnerable, is not only unprofessional but also a blatant disregard for their well-being. I'm lucky and surprised he was able to find a phone to call me, and astonished he was able to remember my phone number by heart. By casting Him aside in the dark hours of the morning, the Windham Center for Psychiatric Care revealed its complete lack of compassion and genuine concern for their patients. It is unconscionable that a supposed sanctuary of mental healing would engage in such heartless behavior, abandoning an individual in dire need of assistance when they are at their most vulnerable. It is clear that the staff at Windham Center for Psychiatric Care are woefully ill-equipped to handle the challenges that come with providing proper mental health care. The disregard shown towards His mental well-being reflects a systemic failure within the mental institution, indicating a dire need for immediate reform, and a general reform for mental healthcare all across this country. Patients deserve an environment where their needs are met with compassion and understanding, not a callous abandonment in the dead of morning. I implore anyone considering Windham Center for Psychiatric Care to reconsider their options. This place is a disgrace to the field of mental health care, and its treatment of my loved one is a testament to the fundamental flaws plaguing its operations. It is imperative that we demand better for those struggling with mental health issues, and that begins with holding facilities like Windham Center for Psychiatric Care accountable for their abhorrent actions with a less than reasonable excuse. TL:DR, Windham Center for Psychiatric Care's decision to discharge Him in the early hours of the morning, based on flimsy justifications, is a clear reflection of their inability to provide the care and support that patients deserve. Avoid this institution at all costs, for the sake of your well-being and that of your loved ones."
