Reviews of Putnam Pond Campground
"Highly recommend!!!! Under rated! Under populated this time of year! Our campsite was fantastic and so quiet! We would 100% come back here. Reminds us of some primitive camping we did in Michigan. Water throughout park, dump station, no electricity. Nice to bike around the park. Again, highly recommend!"
"Putnam Pond Campground is lovely! The facilities are clean, the staff was very friendly, and the pond was easily accessible for canoeing. My only complaint was that, as this campground has so much wetlands, the mosquito situation was OUT OF CONTROL. I left with at least 3 dozen mosquito bites from 2 nights of camping. We left early due to the excessive amount of mosquitoes. We do not like chemical bug-repellants, and our natural product did not work on the number of mosquitoes at this campground. Did I say EXCESSIVE amounts of mosquitoes? Too many."
"Fantastic campground. The facilities are nice, the area is secluded and quiet. The fishing is good. You can rent boats for a reasonable fee. I also saw some beavers in the pond too."
"I found this campground last minute, it honestly was great! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our campsite was very clean! The showers are nice, very hot water! The bathrooms were clean. All the other campers were respectful. Nice quiet campground. My only question was if we could hike the trails surrounding the pond with a dog since the sign said no dogs in day use area? I didn’t know if that was just the beach area or all the trails around the lake? I would love if someone answered this for me. Overall, great trip! We are looking to come back in the fall!"
"Great Adirondack campground! There are many hiking trails in the campground. Many of the trails lead to nearby ponds. One trail leads to Pharoah Mountain. You can also see the remains of an old mining works operation on some of these trails. The main pond has sunfish, perch, bullhead, bass, and pike. There are also many trout ponds that you can access through hiking trails in the campground. Fishing in these ponds is very good. There are many nice camping spots in the campgrounds as well. Some campsites can be found on the lake and you will need a boat to get to them. It is best to book your campsites ahead of time. As it is one of the more remote Adirondack campgrounds, there is no cell service in the campground. Black flies and mosquitoes can also be a problem here. This campground is worth a look especially if you want to hike or fish. It is also open for day use all year."
