Reviews of Ausable Point Campground
"I enjoy the place year round, it's great for pics of sunrise and sunset. The grounds are well kept and clean."
"AuSable Point Campground is a top-notch destination for a day trip. The beach is simply incredible, complemented by a fantastic playground and well-situated picnic areas. Pet lovers will appreciate the welcoming atmosphere for their furry companions. At only $8 per vehicle, the entry fees are a steal for the quality of experience provided. Lake Champlain's cleanliness stands out, though a heads-up for visitors: the dark sand can get quite hot, so come prepared. All in all, a superb spot for a day out."
"This campground is located on the Ausable Marsh which juts out into Lake Champlain. The campground was extremely wet this year and muddy. It was also filled with hungry mosquitoes. The sites we reserved were all closed because they were flooded. We were put in other sites that were very small and separated from others in our group. The small sites made it difficult to park our camper. The bathrooms were minimally clean. One shower house for the entire campground. The roads are narrow, rutted, and muddy. By the time we left they closed even more sites due to the water level. Avoid sites higher than 80 as those are basically in a swamp filled with frogs, mosquitoes and flies. If you can get a site right on the lake it may be worth going but otherwise this campground is one to avoid. Also, there is little to no communication between staff. They would close a site by roping it off and then hours later someone would be sent to it and not know it was closed. The beach is decent at the lake, there are no lifeguards, but the geese poop all over the beach making it unclean and no one grooms the sand to keep it safe and clean to use."
"When we first arrived our camp site was completely flooded, along with several others due to the weather. The staff at the front were very understanding and let us switch into a different site that was completely dry. Once the night ended and sun rose the next day, many of the flooded sites dried up and there were not any mud piles at the front of sites as we had expected. The sun dried everything up very nicely, the campground is very well maintained. The bathrooms were the least clean part of the stay, with old small Daddy Long Legs that just want to sleep, but still no giant cobwebs or giant mess’. We didn’t get to catch her name, but a woman will come through in a truck with ice and firewood for a great price and really made our stay successful. Her wood was 100% dry since she doesn’t even come out on wet days, and she makes the stop 2x a day to give everyone an opportunity to collect what they need! The beach was gorgeous and very well maintained, not a speck of trash was noticed, and they really enforce pet parents to pick up after their dogs! No poop piles anywhere that we could find! Was a wonderful camping experience through and through, especially since the beginning was a little wet, it was easy to navigate any hiccups with the staff. This is a great site to bring family members and have a peaceful trip."
"This is a campground that has water sites on the lake bad river side. The public beach area is large but didn’t seem to get activity. Playground looked amazing but again I questioned why no one was there. Beach area has clean bathrooms with changing stalls as well. There are drinking fountains and foot wash stations. Parking lot was rough and in need of resurfacing."
