About the Thayer Beach Parking
Thayer Beach Parking, located at 171 Holy Cross Road in Colchester, Vermont, is a popular tourist attraction and parking area managed by the Lake Champlain Land Trust. This institution offers free access to over 1,280 feet of rare sandy beach on Lake Champlain, known as Rossetti Beach Natural Area. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk along the quarter-mile trail to the beach, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and a button-bush wetland filtering stormwater. The area also serves as critical habitat for endangered plant species. Dogs are not allowed on the beach but are welcome on-leash on the natural area trail. The Lake Champlain Land Trust, along with other organizations and individuals, worked together to save and conserve this ecological gem in 1997. With funding from various sources, including the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, the natural area is now owned and managed by the Town of Colchester. Visitors can access the beach by following directions from I-89 and Route 127. Enjoy a day of relaxation and exploration at Thayer Beach Parking.

"Nice place to swim, a small walk down to the beach area."
"Great area for a bike ride... The rails to trails bike paths are the best! Lots of beautiful sites... great day"
"Not dog friendly so not somewhere I go much but a nice short walk through the woods to get to the beach from the parking lot. Easy walk with strollers but to get to the beach, you have to go down a flight of stairs."
"Nice sandy public beach. Not crowded. Pleasant walk through the woods to access it. Lots of boats hanging out. Very flat bottom and shallow water. You can walk 100 meters out and still have water only up to you waist."
