Reviews of Pemi River Campground
"I have been coming here for years and the place is just going downhill each year. The staff/ owners have horrible customer service skills. Especially the miserable lady at the front desk with the personality of a caveman !! The "store" resembles a pop up yard sale. The phone system is archaic. They only have one line for reservations and credit card processing You have to call in a million times to make a reservation in between credit card transactions, only to be greeted with the miserable lady taking reservations. Our group was kicked out for something we didn't do. Which shows how irrational they are. We were told we would get a one night refund, which we didn't receive, so that speaks to their character. The river is beautiful and the campground is right off the highway so I will give that the ONLY positive. Customer Service is VERY important to me !! I am bringing my business elsewhere."
"We did a tubing trip and then returned 2 days later for kayaking. Happy with both. Shuttle and launch was fine. Take out was equally simple. Bathrooms and showers were clean."
"This rating is based on the staff at this camp ground. The camp ground itself is pretty nice...especially the sites on the river. However, this place should be advertised as an RV park instead of a camp ground. There are multiple "seasonal" campers. My husband, myself and a friend stayed on sites 35 and 36. We stayed on our own campsites and were enjoying ourselves until the people, who we have never met, who were camping next to us and across from us randomly came over to our campsites, stating they liked our music. Shortly after they came over to our campsite, someone from their group proceeded to set off a very loud fire work. My husband, myself and my friend did not know these people before coming to this camp ground...we did not know they even had fireworks. After the firework was set off a very aggressive man came over to our campsite and accused my husband of setting off the firework. My husband very politely stated that we did not set off the fire work. This guy, whoever he was, kept going around and accusing my husband of setting off the fire work and we kept telling him it was not us. Next thing we know a mob of people came at us aggressively telling us that we needed to leave. A man who identified himself as the owner started screaming in our faces telling us that we had to leave. Accusing people, who have been drinking, in an agressive manner of doing something they did not do does help an already tense situation. Things got heated and next thing we know the police show up and tell us we need to leave by 9am the next morning. No one listened to our side of the story and the people who did set off the firework should have come forward and confessed. Our camping trip was completely ruined by one person's actions, who by the way, was too much of a coward to come forward and take responsibility for their actions. We are very respectful people...we may play our music a little too loud sometimes but we turn it down when asked. This whole situation should have been handled more professionally by the camp ground staff. If they had approached us in a calm manner and on their own and not with a mob of people, the outcome could have been much more peaceful. But now we are all left with bitter negative energy surronding this RV park and its staff. Such a waste of energy...So, if you want to give your hard earned money to unprofessional and aggressive people, this is the RV park for you!"
"We came just to float the river on a weekend morning during a work trip with the family. What a GREAT time! I can't speak for the camping/overnight, but the folks running the place were very friendly! Our group of 3 was driven up river about 5 miles and dropped off and had a memorable time floating down the river back to the campground! Took maybe 2.5 hours to arrive after getting in. We tried taking it slow, but the river's current pretty much kept you moving the whole time. Only got stuck once at a fork in the river that was rather shallow, not a big deal. Walked it over about 40 or 50 feet was all and we were back on our way. In late July, the water was very cold and refreshing!"
"The riverside view was great. The staff seemed friendly. The 10pm quiet time was NOT enforced. We were wedged in a tiny site and the people to one side of us had 2 sites fill out people and the other side has about 3-4 sites fill of their people. It was NOT quiet. They were all up and clearly drinking very late at night. When I finally started to fall asleep another group came back and was very loud. In the morning we got woken up by a dog barking profusely that was not stopped. The showers and bathrooms are pretty clean, they're kept up. But they are NOT big/tall friendly. I did not even get to swim in the river because it was crowded by people drinking and yelling and letting their tiny children crawl to the TOP of the trestle and jump down at the beach area. We ended up leaving a night early so might as well have just flushed it down the toilet."
