"Although my original purpose was to capture some winter waterfall photographs, the conditions were not in my favor. However, what I discovered along the trail more than made up for this slight setback. The trail is beautiful, winding alongside a peaceful brook, adding a soothing soundtrack to the hike. With every step, there were numerous spots to pause and take in the breathtaking views. I visited the trail on December 8th, and while some areas were a bit slippery, it didn't require spikes. With careful steps and a touch of caution, I easily made my way through these sections. One thing to note is that the markers can be sparse at certain points along the trail. I did find myself accidentally veering off course at one point, but thankfully, I quickly realized my mistake and rejoined the trail in no time. Overall, this was a nice hike, and I would certainly like to do it again sometime."
"Nice hike - but we only made it halfway, as the trail is really muddy and slippery at the moment. Would have loved to go all the way up, as it is really beautiful."
"Lots of cascades and waterfalls on this trail. Can be treacherous if you go after it rains. Enjoyed every part except when I got my shoes and socks full of mud! Be careful but have fun."
"It's amazing what nature has hidden in New Hampshire. We saw all 'The Basin' signs and decided to see for ourselves. It was a short walk from parking lot on 93N. We were amazed at what time had done! Good for short hike, great for pics and had some nice spots to wade in the clear, cold waters"
"Easy hike to "the basin" waterfall. One trail to the basin is paved for easier mobility. Multiple trail options for other hikes and additional waterfalls. The park is carry-in and carry-out so no garbage cans, but there are pit toilets near the parking area. There is a parking area on the northbound side of I-93 with a tunnel under the highway. The parking area on the southbound side which is a bit closer to the falls is slightly larger. Parking is busy on weekends so plan accordingly. Biking from your hotel, or from some of the farther away parking lots is recommended as there are paved trails between many of them -- check with the Franconia Notch start park visitor center for details."
