Reviews of Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad
"This railroad has its journey centred around Meredith train station and offers different rail journeys both towards the north as well as south of Meredith. We travelled in the 4 hour Fall Foliage Special train journey which took us to Plymouth up North via Ashland and then back to Meredith. The train itself was a heritage train with 3 classes of travel, comfortable but lacking in modern amenities possibly to retain the heritage experience. Lunch was served at the Common Man Inn near Plymouth station, which was a very pleasurable experience. On the way back, we had a brief halt at Ashland station and were greeted with attendants who were dressed in period attire and also provided us a peek at some very old railway station practices. We also had good views of a deer park, an old historic bridge, several lakes and a hydroelectric project. The main attraction of course was to be the beautiful colors of the fall foliage but unfortunately because of the earlier heavy rains, the colors of fall were not very radiant this year. The staff took good care of all the passengers and shared interesting titbits all along the journey. I must mention though that this railroad deserves a much better infrastructure at the Meredith station which should be at least at par with the infrastructure at Weir train station which is a few miles down south."
"It was a nice train journey! I had a great time."
"Typical scenic railroad without any real scenery. Just a nice 1 hour ride(1/2 hour on each direction). $22 each, they sell chips and snacks for a buck, and bottled drinks for $3 on board. Ok to do in the rain."
"I took my son on this train and we had a great time. It has fantastic views of the lake. You can also find the train while out in the negiborhoods, I found it while out on a bike ride. It travels all the down to Laconia."
"We chose the 2 hours scenic railroad ride. $21.5 per person. Travel along the lake side on Lake Winnipesaukee. Started from Meredith, stopped at Weirs Beach , ended at Lakeport and back. It's pretty beautiful at this foliage season. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. One thing really worth mentioning was that my family was upgraded to Leo's Party Caboose. We had a wonderful train sightseeing experience today..... A+++"
