Reviews of St Johnsbury History & Heritage Center
"We visited the other day and were treated to friendly and knowledgeable guides and fascinating exhibits. So much to learn about St. Johnsbury and being a Civil War buff, I have to rave about the great artifacts from the War as well! Definitely worth visiting!"
"Tucked away at 421 Summer Street overlooking the time capsule town of St. Johnsbury Vermont is a hidden gem. Here on the well groomed property of the St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center Museum within its walls contains six rooms of varying collections which includes local history of the town's treasured band, their instruments, some very rare. A display on the St Johnsbury Trucking Company, one of the backbones of Vermont. The best surprise for me was contained in two rooms described to me as "some Civil War stuff" by the kind Curator of the museum. What an understatement, one of the finest collections of local American Civil War artifacts I have every seen outside of a major museum of the likes of in Gettysburg or Washington DC. Small, yes. Without merit, No. This display well represents the sacrifice of the men who left to preserve the Union and the families left behind. I have over 40 years of research of this conflict under my belt with the last 18 years on the professional level, believe me, it is worth the trip. I was there for a private event hosted by the Department of Vermont, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, their 137th Annual Encampment, so I am unable to talk of pricing as my admission was free. I gladly denoted $20.00 to their very worthy collection jar."
"Went to our first event there and what an amazing place! Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable, we learned a ton and had a wonderful time! Not hard to find but you need to look for it!"
"Wonderful exhibits. Great history of the town. Delightful events."
"It was a great little museum. It had a lot of fun exhibits. It is still a bit of a work in progress but has a lot to see. Definitely going to check it out again."
