"Well marked and well maintained trails. Wear the right boots as it can be muddy and the trails wet, but its always worth going here for a hike."
"If you're into exploring off the beaten path and enjoy wading through knee high water or deeper while wearing a pair of retired sneakers or wellies and you enjoy the feeling of them filling with water this is the place for you. I would recommend wearing long pants but not jeans. Maybe something like nylon track pants."
"Was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see the park still in existence. 50 years ago Ronnie can’t remember his last name visited Florida and took initiative to create Florida Lake. He worked Dawn to dusk bulldozing, clearing land, building and painting. Kids are unknowingly so unappreciative. Sorry Ronnie. He had built a train track down to the lake. The train ran according to his work schedule I use to believe. Now I realize the train ran according to the kids schedule. We would all pile on and make the trip down to the beach and spend the better part of the day. The thing I remember the most is the fact he had the biggest friendliest smile. Fact is everyone loved this guy. Always smiling always busy always took the time to set his tool down and be kind. Ecstatic to see it still exists! Thank you Ronnie and thank you Freeport."
"Cool spot to explore. Great for photography. Got this shot right after dark. I was looking for longer star trails, but got too freaked out over wildlife creeping in on me."
"UPDATED July 2020: My original review was 3/5 stars, and you can read below the logic behind it. I'm updating to 5 stars, as there has been a huge flurry of activity and upkeep at Florida Lake! It has always been one of my favorite local spots, but now it's even better. The folks there have put in a ton of new bridges (some of the trails can be quite wet depending on the weather) and done a lot of work to improve the property! And it's just as gorgeous and wild as ever. So.Many.Birds!! This place is a well-known birder's paradise and that hasn't changed :) I also walk my dogs over there a lot! Big thanks to those who maintain Florida Lake for all of your hard work! It has not gone unnoticed! This is a gorgeous place, but it's not very well maintained. The trails are overgrown, which makes it hard to enjoy. Stunning area though. They have done a lot of work on the bridges on trails by the river...those look amazing."
