Cold River Overlook

"So I was looking for an out of the way place to camp for my birthday, and this place has like zero information about it as far as I can tell, so I drove down to check it out before trying to camp there. There is no camp ground, and while it may technically be on land open to camping by the public, I think it is safe to say there is no where to camp, even backcountry style. The valley sides are extremely steep and rocky, and there are no marked trails where the map marker is. However, if you are looking for somewhere to have a nice exploratory picnic or are into bouldering, this place is a great day trip. Lots of very large boulders that seem to have shorn off from the cliff above litter the area, and offer lots of varied climbing. It is just far enough from the road that you can't hear it most of the time, but close enough so that getting lost would take some skill. Overall not a bad experience, but unless you are hammock camping this is not the place to stay overnight. Also lots of bear sign, which I will let you interpret as you will."
