"We drove all over and finally found the trail head - to cold to cross in Pctober but beautiful and peaceful place. Going back in warmer weather."
"One of the best trails ever, but not for the faint of heart (or feet). Lower lot / trailhead not reachable from Greenville in August 2023 due to planned road improvements."
"I was here June 5th of 2023. I had been really looking forward to this hike. The hike itself is absolutely beautiful. The overlooks are stunnig. This place is raw. You are climbing up roots of trees, rocks, and dirt across the path to move up and down the trail. The road in is all dirt and has a lot of pot holes so be careful driving in and out. We also saw 3 Moose along the road when we were leaving so again be carfeul. The Lady at the Checkpoint was knowledgeable and friendly. We paid our fee and got a map. My only problem is the signs on the trails are are incomplete and some of the arrows are wrong, pointing you to take the wrong direction. Make sure you download a map off of Alltrails, have plenty of battery, and to be on the safe side take a battery bank so you can take pictures and use navigation on your phone. There is no phone service. I did this with my wife and 12 year old son. While they say you can bring your dog it is probably better to leave the furry ones at home. When we went all the rocks were wet and slippery and it would have been disastrous had be brought out dog that likes to pull the leash. The mosquitos here are plentiful. Everytime we stopped we had 30 to 50 mosquitos on us. Make sure you bring repelent and better yet, also a bug net hat. There may be a few negatives here in my review but I dont mean to sound you shouldnt come here. You should. You should experience this beautiful place but just be more prepared for it than I was."
"What an awesome hike. You will need to pay to get through the Jo-Mary gate. Dirt road to get in. If you access the trail from "Gulf Hagas Parking Area" there will be a river crossing at the beginning of your hike. We hiked in from the "Upper Gulf Parking Area" and avoided the river crossing. We hiked down the Rim Trail and back up the Pleasant River Tote Trail and that was a little over 12 miles. This hikes provides views to seven different waterfalls. Getting down to some of the falls does require some rock scrambling. Overall a challenging but most rewarding hike!"
"Gulf Hagas is an awesome hiking and recreational area. The hike from end to end is roughly 6 miles and has some difficult but doable spots. Along this beautiful hike you come across 7 different waterfalls and gorges. Gulf Hagas is just outside greenville through a woods gate you have to check in with and pay usage fee. There are beautiful views after beautiful views along the hole way. You can access from both ends and walk up or down the river. Lots of nice swimming hole for the kids or adults to enjoy. Bring plenty of water to drink because it is a long day. One of my favorite spots in maine."
