"I love Tufts! My boyfriend and I have taken my rabbit there a couple of times (because our normal vet doesn’t see rabbits), when she had GI stasis, and recently when we noticed a gash on her neck. We called ahead and explained a little bit of what was going on, and they said they would happily see her, but since it was a holiday it would be $330 to see her, but we agreed she needed to be seen, regardless of price. When we got there we were greeted by the friendly receptionist, and then she was taken back fairly quickly to be seen. They came back with Willow (our rabbit) 5 minutes later and said that the wound had already scabbed over and we had nothing to worry about. When we went up to the front desk to pay they said not to worry about it. They had the decency to not make us pay for our quick emergency even though it was a holiday and I really appreciated that. Will absolutely take our other pets there if there’s ever an emergency again. Thank you Tufts!"
"Communication and follow up problems were very frustrating. Waited hours in the lobby while my pet had a very serious emergency surgery and no one called for over 3 hours AFTER she was out to say they were finished and it was well after midnight at that point. The young resident laughed about how busy it was. It wasn't funny at all. It was terrifying. And I paid thousands for the privilege. My pet is just as important as any pet in the ICU and there's no excuse for failing to call your clients. Always better off going to a hospital with experienced Drs. versus inexperienced first year residents. I don't even understand why new vets are even allowed residency in Emergency and Critical Care. They don't have the client skills or the vet skills and they are clearly not monitored sufficiently. You get a different answer every day from a different resident and it doesn't engender confidence and while it used to seem they were more supervised, the many instances of little or no communication has changed my mind about using Tufts at all anymore."
"Our dog Luna broke her leg after falling down the stairs as a rescue puppy new to our home and got an emergency orthopedic surgery. Most wonderful staff and our dog is perfectly recovered running around just fine on four legs like nothing happened. Thank you to all those who helped Luna get better."
"The emergency vets, front desk staff, and specialists we worked with at Tufts were wonderful and they were quick to diagnose our dog with a condition that had been missed by our primary vet. They handled a heartbreaking and delicate situation with care and compassion. I very much appreciated the direct and honest communication we had with specialists and I could tell they care deeply about their patients. Would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for top notch care and staff."
"Disappointing compared to VEG in Shrewsbury. We went in for an eye injury and waited a ridiculously long time. Our pet could have stayed with us but they took her away in the back and kept her there for over four hours. We didn't see the eye exam happen nor could we compare healing time with our regular vet because we were not permitted to be in the room when the eye stain was done. We paid when we left them received some weird bill a week later with no explanation for an additional 200 dollars. I inquired about the bill in writing three times with no response and now we're working with billing. After I called. Tried to set up a follow up appointment and they were scheduled so far out our dogs eye healed on its own. Very difficult to get a call through or calls back. Won't use them anymore. They're either too busy or short on staff."
