"Honest, excellent boat service. Let’s face it, if you have a boat (and you are too busy to fix or marine mechanically-challenged), you need a good mechanic. I fit these parameters and have been with Southern Maine Marine for years. Boating is a luxury, I realize, so forgive me for discussing during viral hard times for many....but.... Owner Paul and his crew take pride in and stand behind their work. Nobody gives away marine services, but this company is solid, and you get your money’s worth. When you haul your boat from there to use it, you are seaworthy and ready. These are good folks."
"I went into the parts department, extremely nice. Gave me detailed advice on a carburetor. I was rebuilding as well as selling me the correct kit."
"“Take your business elsewhere”. That’s what Kelly Page the owner/manager said after I brought a customer service issue to her. The problem: I had my outboard winterized and it was not functioning when I went to use it the next year; there was no water coming out of the cooling water indicator. I called SMMS to ask them to take a look, they said that they couldn’t even look at it for 3 weeks, but they suggested some things I could try. I did them and when these didn’t work, I called and left a message asking for a call back. No one called back. Eventually I took the engine cowling off myself and found the problem, the service tech had installed a rubber tube in the wrong place and this crimped it so that it was completely closed. If the engine was tested as they said, how could they have not noticed this? Good question. So I went to see them, not to complain about the mistake (stuff happens) but to let them know that their customer service was lacking. That’s when Kelly, indignant that I would expect them to help with their mistake during their busy season, told me off."
"I have been a customer for 2 seasons now. They have been terrific. Knowledgeable, customer focused, skilled, and fairly priced. From painting my boat bottom, to storage, winterization, and repair- they have been outstanding. Thanks for enabling my boating."
"Sold my father a propeller. It fell off after about ten minutes of use. Then they told us we put it on wrong and explained what we messed up. Even though we watched their installation video online to install it. Brought the boat down there so they could take a look. Oh we sold you the wrong prop. Didn’t refund the money and wouldn’t put my old prop back on because I didn’t by it there. Place is apparently about it’s dollars and not it’s customer service or product knowledge."
